Administer Vitamin K (first slide)

• Aspirate 0.1 cc of vitamin K from an ampule with the use of 1 cc syringe. (Preterm - 0.05 cc)
• Remove the needle and apply cotton ball to the site
• Change the needle
• Cleanse the site with cotton balls with alcohol in a circular motion.
• Inject the needle 90 degree deep IM
• Aspirate and note for the presence of blood
• If there is no blood, administer the medication.

BCG
- BCG is given at the earliest possible age protects against the possibility of TB infection
from other family members
- ID
- Right deltoid region (arm)

Hepa B

- given to reduces the chance of being infected and becoming a carrier of Hepatitis B
- IM

Educate about the Vaccination schedule

DPT
- reduces the chance of severe pertussis
- 6th weeks after birth
- Intramancular

OPV
- Protection against polio is increased the earlier OPV is given.
- 6th weeks after birth
- Orally

Measles (AMV 1)
- 9 – 11 months
- Subcutaneous Outer part of the arm

Measles mumps rubella vaccine (AMV2)


- 12 – 15 months after birth
- Subcutaneous Outer part of the arm

Rotavirus Vaccine
6 weeks, 10 weeks
