1) Paper skewing on exit and miss-stapling due to paper

type.

Problem
When performing a staple operation some or all of the documents will not staple
correctly, the problem is more noticable when a few sheets are stapled.

Cause

Low quality paper is being used in the MFP.

Action
Try alternative paper stock, an example of paper stock that causes this problem is.

Xerox Performer 80gsm.

If the problem occurs on good quality paper stocks carry out the
items listed in Item 2 in this guide.

2) Paper skewing on exit and miss-stapling.

Problem

When performing a staple operation some or all of the documents will not staple
correctly.

Cause

Cause 1 - Sheet\Mylar is malformed.

Cause 2 – Modified roller required.

Action 1
Temporary Measure

As a short term measure it is possible to remove these Sheets\Mylars as a

workaround to get the machine working as soon as possible, however the long term
effects of removing these parts has not been tested and it is not recommended to
leave these parts removed for a long period.

Permanent Counter Measure

Please replace the malformed sheets\mylars.

Part Numbers: Item 21 = A0U7 PP9S 00

Item 12 = A0U7 PP9R 00

Please follow the guide below on how to remove the Sheet\Mylar assembly.

1) Please remove the Conveyance roller unit, this will allow you to inspect the
sheets\mylars for malformation.

2) Remove all the covers indicated below including the metal cover.

Remove
plastic
circlip
Remove half
moon gear.

Then remove the shaft\lift assy.

4) Remove the plastic

circlip. Note only remove
the clip indicated to
prevent the assy splitting
apart.

Remove the
plastic circlip and
the gear. Be
careful the pin
does not drop into
the finisher

Next remove the complete drive\plate assembly.

5)

Remove the plastic circlips

from both sides of the feed
assembly. 4 in total.

Remove the feed roller assembly.

Remove the mylars if

deformed and replace with
new.

Follow the procedure in reverse to re-assemble the finisher.

3) Jamming with J72-17 \ J72-21

Problem
FS-529, jamming at the transport section. Jam code 72-17 or 72-21 may be indicated.

Cause

In the Transport section, L and R arms pop off the Shaft. This part of the transport guide
drops down blocking the paper path.

Action

Reattach the two arms onto the shaft (p/n A0U7 PP7Y 00). The L and R arms (p/n A0U7
PP5U 00) may need to be replaced if they are damaged.

4) Jamming with J72-17.

Problem
The machine jams frequently with J72-17.

Cause

The margin of transportation motor torque was smaller than spec.

Firmware bug.

Action

Install the updated FW for the FS-529.

New Ver. A0U70Y0-0071-G01-04

Old Ver. A0U70Y0-0071-G00-05

5) Jamming with J72-16 \ J72-17

Problem

Jamming with J72-16 \ J72-17.

Cause
The rear catch can become unlocked\not engaged correctly. This can happen by
either the finisher not being locked in correctly by the customer or from vibration in
the machine operation.

Action
Using a slit glass cleaning pad for the PH unit or similar pad, attach the pad as
illustrated below, this will increase the pressure on the latch to ensure the finisher is
connected correctly.

6) Jamming with J72-17

Problem
Jamming with J72-16 \ J72-17.

Action
Attach a Mylar with the lower guide of paper entrance.

(Perform this action on FS-529 which Model No. is only A0U7-WY1.)

Problem
C-1191 (Alignment plate F drive malfunction).

Cause
The point of the alignment plate F was caught in the hole of the frame , and the motor
was stopped.

Action
A) Temporay Solution.

B) Permanent Solution.

A) Temporary Solution
1) Try to release the alignment plate by lightly agitating the plate front to back
and left to right.

2) If the plate will not release easily then you will need to dissasemble the unit to
release the plate.

3) After the plate has been released you will need to manufacture and secure a
plate as detailed below. The plate will need to be of a solid material such as
Perspex and should be secured using strong double-sided tape.

Dimensions of the plate = 20mm X 20mm Sq and a Thickness of 1.5 – 2 mm.

Guide rail

Even if the plate is pushed to its maximum width, with the plate fitted the rail will not catch in
the hole of the frame.

B) Temporary Solution

The shape of the hole was modified to prevent the rail catching in the hole.

7) C-1181

Problem

C1181 at power up.

Cause
Improper position of belt due to incorrect position of the timing gears.

Action

Align the mark on belt position gear (p/n A0U7 PP26 00) with the spring holder on the
timing gear (p/n A0U7 PP6P 00).

1) Remove the front cover.

2) Remove the latch.

3) Remove the green jam removal wheel.

4) Take of the spring and remove the white gear.

5) Position the

6) Refit the white gear so that this mark on the black gear aligns with the
tab that holds the spring on the white gear.

7) Replace spring\green wheel\latch and cover.

8) C1183 (Elevate Drive Malfunction).

Problem

C1183

Cause
Broken or damaged worm gear on Tray Up/Down Motor

Action
Replace Tray up/down Assy with the later modified unit.

(ensure the shaft is the new type or the modified unit will not fit)

9) Guidance is finished with error display even if

removing the jam according to the guidance.

Problem

When the Paper Size/Incorrect Type jam occurs at MFP with Job separator, FS-527
or FS-529 guidance is finished with error display (Contact your administrator), even
if removing the jam according to the guidance.

FW Bug

Action

Please update the FW to Ver GCP-90 or later.
