Industrial Drawing (w/ 2D CAD)
Learning Outcomes
Intended Students should be able to meet the following intended learning outcomes:
Learning • Differentiate the draw commands from modify commands.
Outcomes • Analyze each command for 2D drawing.
• Identify the different 2D AutoCAD commands.
Targets/ At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Objectives • Identify the difference between the draw commands and modify commands.
• Familiarize with each function of the commands.
• Create drawings using 2D AutoCAD commands.
(For further instructions, refer to your Google Classroom and see the schedule
of activities for this module)
Note: The insight that you will post on online discussion forum using Learning
Management System (LMS) will receive additional scores in class participation.

2D AUTOCAD COMMANDS
DRAW – Commands for creating common objects, including lines, arcs, circles,
curves, ellipses, and text.
SHORTCU
COMMANDS DESCRIPTION
TS
A. Linear Commands
Draws individual or multiple line segments by
LINE L
picking several random points
Creates a 2D polyline, a single object that is
composed of line and arc segments.
(A 2D polyline is a connected sequence of segments
POLYLINE PL
created as a single planar object. You can create
straight line segments, arc segments, or a combination
of the two.)
Creates multiple parallel lines.
MLINE ML Use MLSTYLE command to change the Multiline
Style settings.
Creates a series of freehand line segments. It is useful
SKETCH - for entering small maps outlines, signatures, or other
Offline Activities freehand drawings.
(e-Learning/Self- Creates semi-infinite lines commonly used as
Paced) RAY - construction lines. A ray has a finite starting point
and extends to infinity.
Creates infinite lines, which are commonly used as
XLINE XL
construction lines.
B. Curve Commands
CIRCLE C Constructs circles of specified radius or diameter.
ELLIPSE EL Creates an ellipse or an elliptical arc
Creates a smooth curve that passes through or near a
SPLINE SPL set of fit points, or that is defined by the vertices in a
control frame.
ARC A Creates an arc, default direction is counter clockwise.
DONUT DO Close polyline composed of wide arc segments.
Creates a polyline of sequential arcs to form a cloud-
REVCLOUD -
shaped object.
C. Special Commands
RECTANGLE REC Draws rectangular object.
Draws 2D with 3 to 1024 sides. All sides are equal
POLYGON POL
and equidistant from the center.
Fills an enclosed area or selected objects with a hatch
HATCH H pattern, solid fill, or gradient fill. A hatch pattern acts
as one unit, unless when it is exploded.

COMMANDS DESCRIPTION
TS
A. Commands to Duplicate Object/s
Duplicate objects/entities using polar and
ARRAY AR
rectangular options.
Duplicate objects within a drawing by defining a base
COPY CO
point or displacement.
Copy objects that are similar and parallel to existing
OFFSET O
entities at a specified distance or through point.
MIRROR MI Create a reverse image of selected objects.
B. Commands to Modify Object/s Orientation
ALIGN AL Aligns objects with other objects in 2D and 3D.
MOVE M Relocate selected objects.
ROTATE RO Rotate selected objects at a specified base point.
C. Commands to Resize Object/s
SCALE SC Shrink or enlarge selected objects.
Resize selected portion of objects by using crossing
STRETCH S
window.
D. Commands to Clean Corners
FILLET F Round or clean the edges of two selected.
Allows you to draw an angled corner between two
CHAMPER CHA
lines.
E. Other Modify Commands
TRIM TR Cut objects from a specified cutting edge.
EXTEND EX Lengthen lines and curves up to a specified boundary.
BREAK BR Remove parts of objects.
Create one line, arc, elliptical arc, polyline or spline
JOIN J
from multiple like objects.
Breaks a compound object into its component
EXPLODE X
objects.
Applies the properties of a selected object to other
MATCHDROP MA
objects.

COMMANDS DESCRIPTION
TS
Common uses for PEDIT include joining 2D polylines,
converting lines and arcs into 2D polylines, and
PEDIT PE
converting polylines into curves that approximate B-
splines (spline-fit polylines).
Command to lengthen/shorten some linear and
curves. Lengthen is an alternative to using TRIM or
EXTEND
Options:
Delta - changes the length of an object by a
specified increment
Percent - sets the length of an object by a
LENGTHEN LEN
specified percentage of its total length.
Total - sets the length of a selected object by
specifying the total absolute length from the fixed
endpoint.
Dynamic - turns on Dynamic Dragging mode.
You change the length of a selected object by
dragging one of its endpoints.
Create a point objects. Points can act as nodes to
POINT PO which you can snap objects.
DDPTYPE - modifies point size and style.
Marks off a specified number of equal lengths on
selected object by placing point objects or blocks
DIVIDE DIV along the length or perimeter of the object. Valid
objects can be divided include arcs, circles, ellipses,
elliptical arcs, polylines, and splines.
DISTANCE DI Measures the distance and angle between two points.
Erase objects from a drawing. ( or Select object/s and
ERASE E
press DELETE button on your keyboard)
