2. A taxi charges a flat rate of Php 1.75, plus an additional $0.65 per mile. If Erica has at
most Php 10 to spend on the cab ride, how far could she travel?
3. Chris wants to order DVD's over the internet. Each DVD costs Php 15.99 and shipping
the entire order costs Php 9.99. If he can spend no more than $100, how many DVD's
could he buy?
4. Allison practices her violin for at least 12 hours per week. She practices for three fourths
of an hour each session. If Allison has already practiced 3 hours this week, how many
more sessions remain for her to meet or exceed her weekly practice goal?
5. Ryan is a wrestler trying to make weight. He currently weighs 200 lbs. If he cuts 2 lbs.
per week, how many weeks will it take him to weigh less than 175 lbs.?

II. 2D Coordinate System


1. Name a point that is √2 away from (−1, 5).
2. Name a point that is between 50 and 60 units away from (7, −2) and state the distance
between the two points.
3. What is the equation of the line that goes through (1, 3) and (5, 12)? Leave your answer
in slope-intercept form.
4. What is the distance between (1, 3) and (5, 12)?
5. What is the equation of the line that is parallel to the line that goes through (1, 3) and
(5, 12) and is also goes through (0, -1)?
6. What is the equation of the line that is perpendicular to the line that goes through (1, 3)

adults cost $2.00. Total receipts for the event were $73.50. How many of each type of
ticket were sold?
14. A farmer has two types of milk, one that is 24% butterfat and another which is 18%
butterfat. How much of each should he use to end up with 42 gallons of 20% butterfat?
15. Turkey the Pigeon travels the same distance of 72 miles in 4 hours against the wind as it
does traveling 3 hours with the wind in the local skies. What is the rate of Turkey the
Pigeon in still air and the rate of the wind?
