B. Give examples of how a worker could be injured when carrying out maintain operations
on an item of machinery in the workplace.(3 marks)
Examples of injury cause by noise is the ear may not hearing well and if it is not treated, it
will cause damages to the ear drum and cause deaf.Second,if injury by dust,the employee will
have coughing always and if the dust is harmful such as asbestos, the lungs will destroys
because the asbestos will damages the lungs bit by bit.Third,if injury by body,it will expose
the body to fatigue and injury if the body is push to the limit without rest.
C. Outline measures to be taken to minimise the risk of injury during the maintenance of
machinery.(3 marks)
The measures that can be taken to minimise the risk of injury in the ear is to have a hearing
test every 6 months. Earplug is also works in minimize the noise. Second, if the injury is
cause by dust, the employee must have regular check-up to make sure that the dust is not too
harmful to the body.PPE also must be used to prevent the dust from entering the body.
2.An organisation is introducing a new work activity that requires a safe system of work.(6

First, to provide information necessary to assist all employees to perform tasks safely.
Second, aim to reduce the risk by minimizing potential exposure. Third, to make up a system
of work and associated control measures to apply in doing the job or task.
B. Explain why it is important for safe systems of work to have written procedures.
First,as a guide for the worker through a task from start to finish in a chronological order with
the aim to reduce the risk by minimizing potential exposure. Second, to identifies the health
and safety issues that may arise from the jobs and tasks that make up a system of work and
associated control measures to apply in doing the job or task. Third, to prevent workplace
incidents and injuries.
