<Overview of the driver>

By installing the printer driver, printing by using general applications of Windows is possible. The
printing procedure varies according to the application. For details, see the operation manual of each
application.

<Precautions to be observed when using the driver>
1. Use in combination with application software for ASK printers such as SF-PM
(1) Limitation regarding installation
When installing the new printer driver and the Instant Print Software SF-PM, install the printer
driver first and then SF-PM.
If any software to be connected with an ASK printer such as SF-PM has already been installed,
the automatic detection of new hardware cannot be performed and the printer driver cannot be
installed by following normal procedures.
In such a case, uninstall the application software such as SF-PM first by following
"Troubleshooting" in the operation manual, install the printer driver, and then install SF-PM.
(2) Precaution to be observed when installing SF-PM
When installing SF-PM after installing the ASK printer driver, even if the ASK-2000 is turned on,
the New Hardware Wizard is not displayed. This is because the USB driver of the ASK-2000 has
already been installed along with installation of the printer driver. In this case, continue the
installation procedures.
(3) Limitation regarding the use in combination with application software
Do not output prints from SF-PM and printer driver at the same time.
When outputting from the printer driver, shut down the application software such as SF-PM.
2. Limitation regarding USB for connection
Use the USB port used for installation of the printer driver. For outputting from the USB port other
than the one used for installation of the printer driver, installation of a new driver is necessary.
3. Connection of multiple ASK-2000 printers
Multiple ASK-2000 printers can be connected. By following the operation manual, install the
ASK-2000 printer driver to each USB port. However, when the application software for ASK printers
such as SF-PM and the printer driver have been already installed on the PC, a new printer driver
cannot be added by following normal procedures. By following “Troubleshooting” in the operation
manual, specify the settings of the new printer driver.
Even if two ASK-2000s are connected, rate control is exercised for the speed of image data
transferring from the PC. Therefore, note that the printing capacity does not necessarily become
double.
4. Power supply when multiple printers are connected
If the power of an unused printer is turned off during printing when multiple ASK printers (including
those other than ASK-2000 and applications other than printer driver) are connected with a PC, the
USB communication may be cut off disabling outputting of prints. While prints are being output, do
not turn off ASK printers connected with the PC. After completing the outputting of prints, turn off all
the ASK printers and then turn on the ASK printer to be used again.
5. Installation of ICC profile
After installing the printer driver, be sure to install the ICC profile by following “4. How to use ICC
Profile” in the operation manual of the printer driver.
<Updating of the printer driver>
The functions of the new printer driver are the same as those of the driver for Windows XP and Vista
which has been already released in some regions. For those who have already used the driver with
Windows XP and Vista, updating is not necessary.
