TITLE:
Counter measure for the problems of Video Print, Ping test, DICOM Storage and Steered Beam.

MODEL AFFECTED:
SSD-4000

SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED:

Software version is Ver.7.0.0 ~ 7.2.1.

PURPOSE:
It is to inform the problems of Video Print, Ping test, DICOM Storage and Steered Beam and the
solution for these problems.

SYMPTOM:
(1) Software Version is Ver.7.0.0 ~ 7.2.0
It cannot make a printout when you press PRINT at the first time after starting up the machine.
If you froze the machine right after starting up and left it for a while, this phenomenon would occur.
When you press PRINT button again, it will print an image normally.

(2) Software Version is Ver.7.0.0 ~ 7.2.0

The error messages appear when you click on “Cancel” button during “Ping” test.
When you activate “Ping” test and then, cancel it in the middle of testing, two error dialogues (Art
Library and Preset Server) appear as in the figure below. Machine will work normally after you clear
the dialogues.

(3) Software Version is Ver.7.0.0 ~ 7.2.1

“Network Communication Error” would appear when you send an image to storage server.
This might happen on a system with “ADLib” DICOM library when the “Transfer Syntax” is set as
data compression format. Data transfer will be failed if this error occurred.

(4) Software Version is Ver.7.0.0 ~ 7.2.1

Steering Beam angle that is set in the PRESET is ignored when you invert the beam direction.
When you select “Steering Invert” at the first time, the steering angle will be changed to 15 degree
even if it is set other than +/- 15 degree in the PRESET.

Use the following update kit attached to the Technical Bulletin SSD-3500-17.

Software Update Kit, PM-3500-29...... 1 set

This kit is for multiple use (You can use one kit for multiple machines).

SOLUTION:
This solution is closely related to the Technical Bulletin No.SSD-4000-31 and -33, therefore please
refer these documents and the following table before installing the update kit.

CAUTION
When you install multiple kits, it is necessary to follow the order below.
1. PM-4000-62 → 2. PM-4000-63
In the case of Software Version “6.0.1”. After upgrade when multiple kits are used, version
indication is “00-*.*.*.3/5”.
1. PM-3500-29 → 2. PM-4000-63
In the case of Software Version “7.0.0/7.2.0”. After upgrade when multiple kits are used,
version indication is “00-*.*.*.4/5”.

Update the SSD-4000 with the following procedure.

(1) Create the update floppy disks (2nd ~ 8th) by copying the files from CD-3500-20-1-1.
The file “SSD-4000.002” is for the floppy disk: FD-3500-20-1-2 (2nd disk), then create the
FD-3500-20-1-3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 respectively in the same manner. (Refer the figure below)

(2) Confirmation of the software version before upgrade

Display the MAINTENANCE screen by means of pressing PRESET button, then press Ctrl and
S key on the full keyboard at the same time.
Check the indication of “System” at the “Software” section in the SYSTEM1 screen.
(3) Software upgrade
Display the MAINTENANCE screen in the same way as the above mentioned (1).
Select “UP GRADE”. (Move the arrow cursor to “UP GRADE” and press SET switch.)
a) When you select “Version up”, the following message is displayed.

Insert Disk #1 and press "SET"

Quit: Press "CANCEL"
b) Insert the floppy disk (FD-3500-20-1-1) and press the SET switch to start the update.
c) Select “Start” and then follow the message that will prompt you to set each FD one after
another.
d) After completion of update and the following message is displayed, eject the floppy disk and
turn the power off.
SSD-ALPHA5 Version Up
Turn off a power switch.
(4) Confirmation of the software version after upgrade
Display the MAINTENANCE screen in the same way as above (1), then confirm the indication
of “System” changed to “00-*.*.*.4” at the “Software” section in the SYSTEM1 screen.

PRODUCT UPDATE REPORT

After the upgrade, please send the “Product Update Report” by fax to ALOKA office for your
territory.
