TITLE:
Measure to DICOM issues

MODEL AFFECTED:
SSD-4000 with the software version 1.0.1 through 6.0.1.

PURPOSE:
It is to inform several DICOM issues and the solution for them.

ITEMS OF REQUIRED PARTS:

Use the following update kit attached to this technical bulletin,
Software Update Kit, PM-4000-62............................ 1 set (seven floppy disks contained)
This kit is for multiple use (different from the ordinary upgrade kit).

SYMPTOM:
(1) Invalid image Date/Time values unexpectedly set to DICOM tags
By the following operation, image date/time in DICOM tag is wrongly set upon storage.
Step1: Store multiple images to internal hard disk (ex. 100 images).
Step2: Delete images partly (ex. images #30 through #70).
Step3: Store/Transfer images positioned after the deletion made above (ex. #72).
The date/time appears at top right corner of pixel image remains correct. However, the values
in DICOM tag are different, and this may confuse the list function on server/viewer software.
(2) Invalid values unexpectedly set to DICOM tags when JPEG Baseline is selected
When the JPEG Baseline is selected as the transfer syntax upon negotiation, the invalid values
are unexpectedly set to four DICOM tags (Samples Per Pixel, Photometric Interpretation,
Planer Configuration, Bits Allocated).
This may cause the image storage error or retrieve error if the server/viewer checks the
consistency of information.
(3) “Network Communication Error” happens on specific condition
The network communication is failed upon the following conditions for transfer syntaxes,
Case A: non-compressive for Single frame, compressive for Multi-frame
Case B: compressive for Single frame, non-compressive for Multi-frame
(4) System locks-up at multiple printing on B/W printer.
When the preset is configured to make multiple printing on B/W printer, it causes the system
error sometimes.

ESSENTIAL CONDITION:
None

SOLUTION:
Update the software by PM-4000-62 regardless of the current software version.

(1) Confirmation of the software version before update

Show Maintenance screen (by pressing PRESET, Ctrl-S). And, then take a memo of
“System” indication such as “00-2.1.0” at the “Software” in the SYSTEM1 screen.

(2) Software update

In the Maintenance screen, select “UP GRADE”.
a) When you select “Version up”, the following message is displayed.
Insert Disk #1 and press "SET"
Quit: Press "CANCEL"

b) Insert the floppy disk (FD-4000-43-1-1) to the disk drive and press SET button to
start loading.

c) Follow the instruction message displayed, set totally seven floppy disks.

d) When the update is completed and following message is displayed, remove

floppy disk from drive and reboot the system by turning power switch off and on.
SSD-4000 Version Up
Turn off a power switch.

(3) Confirmation of the software version after update

Show Maintenance screen again in the same way as above (1). And, then confirm
that the end of “System” indication has been changed with “.3” such as
“00-2.1.0.3” at the “Software “ section in the SYSTEM1 screen.

After the upgrade, please send/fax “Product Update Report” to ALOKA office of your territory.
