TITLE:
IPC-1531 problem of chroma, image size, image position

MODEL AFFECTED:
IPC-1531

SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED:

IPC-1531: M00101C ~ M02085C （Japan/Export）
Specially M00496C ~ M00755C (produced in Nov. 2005),
M01056C ~ M01155C (produced in Apr. 2006.04),
M01756C ~ M02085C (produced in Nov. 2005) are high risk model.

SSD-4000: M05336C ~ M05765C、M06076C ~ M06160C、M05846C ~ M05895C,

M05541 ~ M06036

SSD-3500 and SSD-ALPHA5 are not affected since those have other type of TV monitor
IPC-1530(U) for SSD-3500 and IPC-1530(U-1) for SSD-ALPHA5.

BEGINNING OF PRODUCTION CHANGE:

IPC-1531：S/N M02086C and after
(Indication label “A” pasted near the AC inlet, or printed “A” in the S/N label)

PURPOSE:
Inform that both temporary solution (resetting) and permanent solution (exchanging the IC).

SYMPTOM:
¾ When turn on the power, the monitor get
1) wrong chroma
2) incorrect size of display area
3) wrong position of display

¾ The symptom may continue until the Factory

preset is recalled.

¾ Although it is temporally fixed by recalling

Factory preset, please exchange IC301.

¾ As there might be the other fact causing the

similar phenomenon, please refer the following Incorrect size of display area
technical bulletin.

CAUSE:
IPC-1531 has an MPU. Due to the quality of MPU: IC301, “Auto input signal detect” function
which is not used for ALOKA system works and change the setup data (chroma, display position,
display size, ..etc.) during the boot up.

[Technical term]
IC301 : The MTV212M32 micro-controller is an 8051 CPU core embedded device
specially customized for monitor application. As ALOKA factory preset data keeps in the
other IC. You will not loose it when you exchange IC301.
The IC has three functions, MPU, ROM, and RAM.

Factory preset data : It is the data of chroma, display position, display size, and including
OSD setting adjusted for ALOKA. It is saved in the different IC than IC301.

Factory preset recall : Restores "ALOKA factory preset data" and copied into an RAM
table in IC301.

RAM table in IC301 : It is a table contains the data for MPU to set an initial condition
during boot-up. ALOKA Factory setting data is copied into this table by the master data on
the other IC. However, the wrong data could be saved if “Auto input signal detect”
unexpectedly worked.

SOLUTION:
1: （Temporary solution/ Cause confirmation: Factory preset data recall）
If you don’t have PM-IPC-1531-1, or judge the cause of trouble which from IC301-monitor side
or main unit SSD side. Remove the monitor rear cover, do the “Factory preset data recall” follow
the attached sheet. (TB_INF-102_Proceduer of the Reset).

2: (Permanent solution/ exchange the IC by PM kit: PM-IPC-1531-1)

Use the PM-IPC-1531 and follow the attached IC301replacement proceduer_MS4-2470

The location of IC301 shows right.

High voltage line is not near of IC301.

But Please be cheerfully to avoide electrical
shock hazards.

During modification,
Please pay attention to Electro Static Discharge.

Note.
This monitor has a MPU, after apply power,
MPU start up then cooling fan start running,
there is a time lag.

Please follow the IC301Replacement

procedure (MS4-2470) basically,

However, you can follow (MS4-2469)，
if you can put your hand and arm from a top side, and modification is possible without giving a
damage to an electricity components. If it’s not sure, you should follow the (MS4-2470).

* Screw driver: No Magnetic type 3mm Phillips screwdriver (+).
* Screw driver: No Magnetic type Flat-bladed screwdriver (-).
* Tweezers.
* Pastern for fixing screws. (1401B or its equivalent)
* Cushion : for protect the monitor front cover during modification
* Wrist strap with conductive sheet For ESD. (3M 8501 (98-0798-1751-0) or its equivalent)

--- Not necessary but useful Items ---

* IC lifter(IC remover) is useful tool to avoide a brake the IC socket.
* Monitor cable “CO-PSC-135-G-21C0” is useful to connect the J50 (monitor video signal) on
SSD-4000 to the other IPC-monitor. S(Y/C) cable and BNC cable also useful.
