What is Soil?
I. Label its parts and write a short description each layers.
II. What is the importance of soil and soil conservation?

Soil is important because it performs critical functions in almost any ecosystem such
as it serves as media for growth of all kinds of plants, modifies the atmosphere by
emitting in observing gases and thus, provide habitat for animals that live in the soil
to organisms, that account for most of the living things on earth, it absorb, hold,
release, alter and purify most of the water and terrestrial systems. Soil also processes
recycled nutrients including carbon, so that living things can use them over and over
again, it's served as engineering media for construction of foundations, road beds,
dams and buildings, and to serve or destroy artifacts of human endeavor, and but not
the least soils act as a little filter to clean water before it moves into an aquifer.

Soil conservation includes a combination of practices that is used to protect the soil
from the degradation and involves treating the soil as a living ecosystem. We must
practice soil conversation because it could help maintain an adequate amount of
organic matter and biological life in the soil and it also ensure secure food supply at
reasonable prices and etc.

III. How can you help our environment in conserving soil?

 Soil provides the nutrients essential for plant growth, animal life, and millions of microorganisms.
However, if soil becomes unhealthy, unstable, or polluted, the life cycle stops. Soil conservation focuses
on keeping soils healthy through a combination of practices and techniques. Individuals committed to soil
conservation help ensure that soil is fertile and productive, and protect it from erosion and deterioration.
Soil conservation is key to environmental sustainability. It helps protect natural resources and
watersheds, restores habitats for plants and wildlife, improves water quality, and makes soil healthier.
Soil conservation also creates economic opportunity. Productive and healthy soil helps farmers meet
increased demand for agricultural commodities from a growing global population, driving economic
growth. Conserving soil can help address food insecurity and promote healthy communities.
