REFLECTIVE ESSAY

Module 3 is about biomes. During this module I learned that there are eight
biomes. before this unit, I do not have any idea about the different biomes. I am
not aware that biomes do exist. I learned that different biomes have different
description or environment and there are certain type of plants and animals that
just seems to be perfect in this kind of environment. These different biomes
seems wonderful because they are good in their own way and are beneficial to
certain plants and animals. This unit made me wonder about the incredible things
that i am not aware of and for sure it is exceptionally useful and have its certain
role in the environment.

Module 4 is about the seven environmental principles. The seven

environmental principles serve as essential guides for environmental protection.
We may learn about nature's limitations and capabilities by looking at these. So
that we can have a better understanding of nature and be able to appropriately
manage it. I learned while remembering it that the environment is dependent on
us, and we are dependent on the environment. Nobody will look after the plants,
animals, and trees if we don't. And there will be no life on Earth if the ecosystem
is not preserved. Nature's help is limited, according to the sixth principle. Nature
has its own methods and systems for regulating species populations in the
environment.

Module 6 is about food security. As I reflect on what I've learned this

midterm, food security entails has grown in depth and breadth. Global food
security, on the other hand, is a tremendously complicated subject, and the more
I understand about it, the less confidence I am in any one solution. This summer, I
had the pleasure of attending the Global Youth Agricultural Summit in Calgary,
where young leaders from all around the world gathered to debate how to feed a
growing and "hungry" world. Each candidate was invited to debate the topic of
food security locally and globally, as well as propose solutions, as part of the
application process.

Module 7 is about soil. For me, the value of soils should not be disregarded.
Soils are found between rain and groundwater or a stream. Because soil filters
water, water can only be as pure as the soil. Unless soils cycle nitrogen, the life-
protecting ozone layer up above in the stratosphere would not exist. The
breakdown of organic matter in arctic soils is being accelerated by global
warming, which is primarily driven by carbon dioxide build-up in the atmosphere
as a result of fossil fuel use. Soils are a bewildering act: totally unnoticed but very
important.

Module 8 is about forest conservation. Forests are one of the most

important natural resources that humans have been given in order to continue to
live on our planet. They certainly provide us with a number of practical and
intangible benefits, without which all life, let alone human existence, would be
endangered. As a result, we must understand the importance of forest cover,
conserve it, and eventually work toward a sustainable strategy to maintaining our
forests while satisfying our needs. We, humans, who are relying on our
environment for our daily needs, we must find a way to preserve it because time
may run out and it will be too late to realize that we wasted our environment
without thinking about the consequences in the future.

Module 9 is about water resources. Water is remarkable because it is the

only natural material that exists in all three physical states—liquid, solid, and gas
—at typical Earth temperatures. For living things including humans, water is vital.
I learned the composition of water and the different water resources around our
environment that is extremely useful to be aware of the water resources. Water
gave us so much benefit and we must do everything we can to sustain and
preserve it.
