Directions: Read the research abstract. With your groupmates discuss your answer to the

1. What is the research topic?

➜ The research topic is "Development and Evaluation of an Online Enrollment System." This
study aims to make hassle-free the enrollment of students in which they will use the online
enrollment system. Through this, students can fill out forms while staying at their own homes,
and teachers will have an organized collection of students' data from the online enrollment
form.

2. What is the research method used? Is the research method used in this study appropriate?
Why?

➜ The research method used was a descriptive developmental approach. And the method
they've used is appropriate because they seek to describe the characteristics of the
phenomenon being studied and develop something that will answer the problem.

3. What is the research instrument used? Is the research instrument utilized in this study
appropriate? Explain.

➜ The research instrument used was a survey. Also, it was an appropriate instrument to be
used because they had a short discussion about a specific topic through it.

4. What kind of data were gathered in this study? Why?


➜ The data gathered in this study showed that the respondent rated the program's aesthetic
GUI, efficiency, reliability, usefulness, and user-friendliness with a weighted mean of 4.7, which
can be interpreted as strongly agree.

ACTIVITY 9: "I LEARNED" (p.18)

Directions: Read the following carefully. Answer the essays is 3-5 sentences only.

1. What is quantitative research?

➜ Quantitative research is used to quantify the problem by generating numerical data or data
that can be transformed into usable statistics. In this type of research, researchers tend to
remain objectively separated from the subject matter. This is because quantitative research is
objective in approach in the sense that it only seeks precise measurements and analysis of
target concepts to answer his inquiry. Additionally, quantitative research is usually used in hard
sciences like physics, chemistry, biology, and medicine.

2. What are the strengths and weaknesses of quantitative research?

➜ Doing this type of research can give you an advantage because of its strengths, such as data
is in numeric form, which makes it easier to interpret, it allows for greater objectivity and
accuracy of results, it allows for a broader study, involving a greater number of subjects, and
enhances the generalization of the results, etc. However, even though it has something that
makes it strong, we can't deny that it still has weaknesses, such as results provide less detail on
behavior, attitudes, and motivation, results are limited as they provide numerical descriptions
rather than detailed narratives and generally provide less elaborate accounts of human
perception, the development of standard questions by researchers can lead to "structural bias"
and "false representation," where the data actually reflects the view of the researcher instead
of the participating subject, etc.

3. How can you describe the 4 main kinds of quantitative research?

Descriptive

➜ It is a study design that provides an in-depth understanding of the study population. On one
hand, a correlational study is a type of research that measures the relationship between two
variables.

Correlational

➜ It referrs to a non- experimental research that studies the relationship between two
variables with the help of statistical analysis.

Quasi-Experimental

➜ Its word “Quasi” denotes similarity. A quasi-experimental design is similar to an


experimental, but it is not the same because they differ in the assignment of a control group.
This research design was used where random assignment is either irrelevant or not required.

Experimental

➜ It is a type of study which is commonly used in scientific research designs, and it is the
primary approach used to scrutinize the causal relationships and investigate the relationship
between one variable and the other.
