PART-A
The proposed Quarry Lease area is part of a hill trending NE-SW sloping towards west with
topographic elevation ranging from 108m MSL on the southwest to 246,0 m on the North. The quarry
lease is exposed with Charnockite {Hypersthene Granulite) belonging to Eastern Ghats Super Group
of Archaean age.
o
The drainage is observed to be sub dendritic pattern. A first order ephemeral stream Is
originating on the north west of the proposed QL area. The streams are seasonal and the tanks
o
located to the west of the proposed QL area are dry for most part of the year. Panduru Reserve
o
Forest boundary is located at a distance of 0.5 km south of the QL area. The general water table is
located at a depth of about 40 - 45 m from the ground level. The flora consists of thick bushes and
the pediment portion is occupied with cashew and mango plantation. Negligible soil cover is
observed within the interstices of scattered boulders followed by sheet rock which is highly jointed
and fractured. Gravel is formed along the foothill portion of the proposed QL area south eastern
portion. The region has a tropical humid climate with the maximum and minimum temperature
0
varying from 30 - 44° in summer and 8 -15 in winter. The average rainf^{^5S^^00 mm and

2. GEOLOGY AND EXPLORATION;
o U
a) Regional Geology: MS
Biotite-Gneisses of Khondalite Group, Charnockite Group (acidic, Basic, Intermediate) and Quartzo -
Feldspathic Gneiss, Biotite Gneiss and Leptynite of Migmatite Group. The contact between
Charnockite and Khondalite is mainly concealed and is manifested by geomorphic features like break
in slope. Valley or saddle. Charnockite shows distinctive topography of tors and massifs with steep
scarps and rounded hillocks.
The Charnockite group comprises basic, intermediate and acid variants. Basic Charnockite
consists of Pyroxene, Plagioclase with minor quartz and occasionally garnet and biotite. The acid and
intermediate variants comprise bluish grey granoblastic quartz, pink to light brown biotite,
occasionally sphene, apatite and zircon. Quartzo fefdspathic injections are common within the acid
Charnockite.
The Eastern Ghat mobile belt was metamorphosed under Granulite fades metamorphism and
multiple phases of deformation. Gravel occurs as cover deposits all over the rock types formed due to
sub-tropical weathering and is locally used for filling purpose and construction of roads in rural areas.

Since the deposit is exposed over the surface no future exploration is required.

(1) Type of Deposit as per UNFC Guidelines
Road Metal, Rough Stone& Gravel is not failing in any category of UNFC classification. It is a
localized mineral available everywhere and utilized locally for construction purpose such as laying
roads, construction of buildings etc., depending upon the characteristics of the rock. Charnockites,
Khondalites and Granite Gneiss are mostly fractured and disturbed which are not useful for any
other specific purpose of their characteristics in specified area are useful for construction as road
metal and building stone locally. Detailed topographic survey and geological mapping was carried
out at the proposedQL area by field traverses. The length, width of the deposit is 600 m x 580 m and
the thickness of sheet rock is taken as the height exposed above the ground level i.e. 138mts (Plate-
3).
As the ROM is intended for use in the Road metal, Rough Stone and Gravel no specific parameters
were considered. The bulk density of 2.5 is adopted for estimating the reserves.
The sectional area was considered along with thickness of sheet rock and influence of 100.0 m
on either side of the leased area. The Bulk Density was considered at 2.5.
ii)Status of exploration:NA
(jlFeasibility Report along with financial analysis per economic viability of the deposit: The cost of
production of Road Metal, Rough Stone& Gravel is arrived at Rs. 190/- per ton inclusive of taxes and
royalty while the ROM is sold at Rs. 275/- per ton. The entire ROM is surely economic and
profitable.

The proposed mining method will be by opencast other than fully mechanized mining with
drilling and blasting. The ROM will be sized and sorted in the crusher established outside the quarry
lease area and loaded on to tippers and tractors using JCB. Mining will be carried out by formation of
benches of height 6.0mts each. The details and sections are depicted on Plate-4.
