DUY: As a person who has lived in an urban area for most of their lifetime, here I
only have to walk a few steps to a convenient store to buy some stuff. So I guess I
have nothing to complain about where I live.
3. What is interesting about the area where you live?
MINH: The interesting part about living in an apartment is that each floor is a
neighborhood and the whole building is a community. On some occasions,
activities are really fun and organized in large scale.

KIEN: I want to live in America in the next few years since it is a good place for
studying with a high quality education.

1. Which is the most popular sport in your country?
HIEU: In my country, the sport which is enjoyed by most of people is absolutely
football. As you can see, when Vietnam national team won in AFF (Asia Football
Federation) Cup, everyone went down to the road and cheer up together or when
Under23 Vietnam team became a miracle in U23 Asia

2. What are the advantages of doing sports regularly?


TUAN ANH: Outdoor activities can improve our physical and mental health.
Exercising helps lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

3. Which new sport would you like to try?


DUY: I would like to try some of the most unique activities that are rarely shown
or revealed on social media, such as cricket or throwing axes, simply because they
sounds fascinating to take part in.

1. What do you particularly enjoy doing with your friends?
MINH: I enjoy watching netflix with friends as we share the same taste in films
and we can discuss the movies later.

KIEN: Yes, there is a difference in the activities that I do with my mates over the
years because of the development of technology. In the past, I used to meet with
my friends face-to-face. But now, I usually interact with them through the
Internet/online

HIEU: For me, having a good friend depends on how we treat each other by giving
advices or supporting each other in study.

In Viet Nam, the highschool you attend has a significant on our choice of
university. Luckily, i got into a quite decent one? which is CNN and it is also my
first academic achievement.
Unlike my friends, I barely knew anything about the school. Most of the
secondary school graduates who got into the school participate in extra classes
that are taught by the school’s teachers. But I took another path, I only studied 2
weeks before the test and obtained knowledge through online materials. It was
difficult but I overcame the challenges thanks to the cheers from my family and
my dedication. After I was officially announced one of the new students of CNN, I
felt absolutely delighted. I screamed and shouted so loud that the whole floor
could hear the noise. The school has entirely changed my life. Its professionalism
helped me a lot. I was no longer a procrastinator, but became more independent
and always make plans for everything I do.

TUAN ANH: Academic goals can help people gain motivation such as getting good
grades or high-paying jobs in the future. Moreover, people can keep track of

some aspects or scenarios that happen in life.

MINH: I think books and class will be transformed by electronic devices. Many

MINH TRANG: The best thing I love in my house is my bedroom because it is large

TA MINH: Presently, I live in a city and my home is situated in a central residential

dream house, I would want it to be on a higher altitude near the hills and among

KIEN: In my opinion, the most important meal of the day is breakfast because it
provide enough energy for whole day

TUAN ANH: It is necessary to have family members having meal together because
it strengthens the family bond without the absence of any family members.

ANH DUY: It is oblivious that people, especially youngster, prefer to eat street
food, however due to the epidemic is rising , people are resort to use canister and
instant food.
Celebrations
1. What is the most important celebration in your country?
TA MINH: Tet is the most important holiday in my country because it is an
occasion for family reunion. When Tet comes around the corner, most
Vietnamese people return to their families to visit their family members, to
worship at the family altar or visit the graves of their ancestors in their homeland
as a sign of respect.

2. What do people do to celebrate the New Year?


KIEN: The thing that people in my country usually do to welcome New Year
holiday is light some fireworks, gather around with many memorable moments
and eat some traditional food like “banh chung”

3. Are traditional celebrations becoming less popular with young people?


MINH TRANG: Yes, they are. As young people these days are so busy with their
own works, they tend to spend free time for their habits instead of searching and
caring to traditional celebrations

TA MINH: cities have a big issue with air pollution due to its enormous population.
I think in order to solve such problems, jobs should be available in the countryside
as much as in the city, therefore people will not come to city to earn a living.

3. Are people less friendly in cities than in the countryside?


I agree with this opinion. According to some psychological researches between
urban and rural area, city is often a place where people from mixed parts flock
into, and since some parts are having interfere with each other, this will make
citizen become less friendly, even sometimes it can becomes rude for the others

TUAN ANH: The neighbourhood where i live is a small community, surrounded by
trees and next to the community is a lake where people can go fishing or swim at

TA MINH: I like jogging a lot. To me, walking is not only a form of exercise, but
also a form of socializing. I get to meet a lot of types of people and their stories

KIEN: there are many pedestrian streets in my neighborhood near the lakes that

Ta Minh: I am currently living in HN, the capital of VietNam and I really enjoy the
infrastructure (public transport) of it. There are buildings, modern facilities so it
is very convenient for all kinds of purposes.

Kien:The thing that I dislike about the city where I live is the environment.
Although there are a lot of green trees in my city, but there are still many places
with garbage and polluted rivers.

Covid19, all of us are in quarantine/social distancing, that’s why I just stay at

Indoors actually gives us more drawbacks than benefits, especially the limitation

the things that I do outside the house are hangout with my friends, having some
coffee and playing some sports like football.

In most cases, it is impossible to exercise/play sports freely inside the house, so

It depends on my mood. Sometimes I like to buy technology goods, home

If any of my foreign’s friend ask me, which is my favourite food in Vietnam, I will

signature food of vietnam and it is also my favourite food .

Cooking and discovering nice and new food is my wife’ hobie so that She alway
cooks for my family on the weekend because she is very busy at her job every
working day and that is why my mother usually cooks every day for my family.

It depends on my job’s requirements. When I work far from my house alone I
only want to eat at restaurants to save the time to work and relax. But when I
stay at home with my family, I like to eat at home where my family can have
time to chat and warm up our relationship together because our family is a
traditional lifestyle in Hanoi where most people think that the time we eat at
home is very important to keep all members close togher.

To me, The best restaurants to eat are where customers can eat nice food, it has

TUAN ANH: I think it would be Lunar New Year which is celebrated in many
families in Vietnam and China. During this time, many families stay at home and
not allow to sweep the house.

MINH TRANG: banh chung, a cake made from rice, green beans and meat. Spend
time together, adults give money to children in order to receive luck

4. Do you think festivals are important for a country? Why?


DUY: From my own perspective, I think it is important for a country, especially a
country like Vietnam, since Vietnamese people are considered to be Taosist,
which has a ton of ceremonies and festivals to hold. Also this is a clever way to
educate people, especially youngsters, who are too addicted to social media and
the virtual world nowadays.

a veteran male actor, a man works for MI7 - a secret intelligence agency of the
Queen, they fight terrorists, action-comedy, a good laugh, admire the work of

MINH TRANG: Covid 19, not allowed to go to public places, not enough funds to
keep the theatres open

DUY: ongoing Covid 19 sees no sign of ending soon, Netflix and other online
movie platforms are rising

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of making films of real-life events?
TUAN ANH: easy to check the facts, so audience can make critics about the
movies, but in some cases, impossible to reach the involved people to build the
movie from only factual details

4. How important do you think it is for a filmmaker to remain true to the original
story?
KIEN: necessary for producer to respect the facts about the characters mentioned
in the movies, such as their colour

5. Should films and television be censored or should we be free to choose what


we see?
MINH TRANG: content on TV inappropriate for teenagers, should be filtered, such
as extreme violence in action movies

6. How do you think censorship laws will change in the next 20 years?
DUY: likely to be stricter, harassment, suicide scenes must be prevented from
