9. Bursting Strength ASTM D 3786 Range: Upto 60 kg/cm2 Least
Tester (digital) and IS 1060 Part Count: 0.01 kg/cm2
1 Clamp: Pneumatic
The diaphragm used in the
equipment should be 0.35-0.45
mm thick and the pressure
required to bulge the diaphragm
5 mm above the top plane of
the lower clamping surface of
the test instrument should not
be more than 0-0.7 kg/cm2.
10. Dennison Wax Pick-up IS 1060 (Part 3), Unitless. Apparatus should be comprised
Tester TAPPI T 459 of:
1. Heating device, such as:
Bunsen burner, alcohol lamp,
propane torch, or electric heat
element.
2. Wooden block, about 90 × 40
× 10 mm having a 30 mm
diameter hole with an edge
about 3 mm from one end.
3. Work surface that is smooth,
hard, and a poor conductor of
heat, such as wood.
11. Die Punch for Sample IS 1060, IS 2508, To obtain specimen by
Preparation (Tensile ASTM D 638, punching, using hollow dies of
Strength, Folding ASTM D 882 different sizes and contours.
Endurance etc.) Interchangeable socket punches
/Automatic Sample with different profiles and size
Cutter as per according to the customer
ISO/ASTM needs.
Should be made of steel with
hand finished cutting edges and
provided with ejector for easy
removal of the specimen after
punching.
12. Scuff Proofness Tester IS 4006 (Part 1) The scuff tester can be used in
Paper & Packaging industries to
evaluate color transfer from
printed or coated surfaces
during rubbing. It is designed
and produced according to
ASTM Standard and measures
the number of double strokes
required to cause Fuzz
(distortion of appearence) and
Peel (actual rupture of the
surface).
13. COBB Tester TAPPI T 441 Cobb Test describes a
procedure for determining the
quantity of water absorbed by
non-bibulous paper, paperboard,
and corrugated fiberboard in a
specified time under
standardized conditions.
It is based on studies by
Cobb and Lowe, Cobb and other
investigators. For testing
unsized and absorbent paper or
paperboard.
14. Opacity Tester TAPPI T 519 • Range : 0 - 99.9 % opaque.
• Direct display : % opaque.
• Paint : Powder coated.
• Power : 230 Volts, 50Hz, single
phase.
It is a measure of diffuse opacity
(paper backing) of white and
near-white papers, previously
known as “printing opacity.” The
method may be employed for
colored papers on condition that
their reflectance (paper backing) is
greater than 20% and their diffuse
opacity (paper backing) is greater
than 45%.
