ASSIGNMENT 5
Tasks:

1. Use pivot tables to find out:


1) total number of units sold in each region.
2) total number of units sold in each region by respective sales rep.
3) Sum of items sold in each region.
4) Sum of items sold in each region by respective sales rep.

2. Use a goal seek function in Data2 to seek a goal of total 4000 sales for all the regions
by changing number of units from different regions.

3. Develop an income statement using the financial data in Data3 Sheet and use scenario
manager to calculate the net profit in different economic outlooks

STEPS:
1. Open the excel sheet that has the data. First, we need to create a pivot table. For that, select
the data range, and go to Insert -> Pivot Tables and click on it.

2. Next, to calculate the number of units sold in a region, in the pivot table settings, move the
field ‘Region’ to rows and move the field ‘Units’ to values, where you would select Count
of values.

Click on OK and then the pivot table would be formed. It would look like this –

3. Now, to find the total number of units sold by each sales representative in each region, we
would make another pivot table, and in the field settings, we would select Region in
Columns, Rep in Rows and Count of Units in Values.

Now, click on OK and your pivot table would be formed. It would look like –

4. Now, to calculate the sum of items sold in each region, create a new pivot table with Items
as columns, Regions as Rows and sum of units as Values.

Click on OK and then, your table will be formed. It would look like –

5. Now, to calculate sum of items sold by each sales rep in different regions, we would create
a pivot table, and then select :
ROWS – Region, Item (in the same sequence)
COLUMNS – Sales Rep
VALUES – Sum of Units

The pivot table is formed. It would look like –

6. Now, to use goal seek, go to the Data2 sheet, and then, go to Data -> What If Analysis ->
Goal Seek.

7. Now, after clicking on Goal seek, the goal seek tab would open, which would look like –

Here, it is important to remember the one which is to be changed in order to achieve the goal.
For that, in the 3 cases, we would fill the values like –

The goal seek is complete. Now, the values would be changed according to it, like –

8. Now, to use scenario manager, go to the Data3 Sheet, and go to Data -> What If Analysis
-> Scenario Manager. There, you will get the scenario manager dialog box.

9. Here, the scenario manager dialog box will open and we need to fill out various scenarios
given to us. It would be like –

Click on ‘Add’ to add all the 3 scenarios that are given. Once you click Add, the following
dialog box would appear:

Fill the details, and create the scenarios.

After clicking on OK, all the 3 Scenarios will be added, and you can simply view them in the
scenario manager.

After clicking on Show, the old values will replace the scenario values and the results would
be formed. Now, to have a summary of this scenario manager, click on Summary, and the
Summary would be generated. For clarity purpose, we have shown each scenario in different
cells.
