Chapter 2

Design and Methodology

This chapter discusses the research design, population of

the study, data-gathering tools, data-gathering procedures and

the treatment of the data used in the study.

Research Design

This study is quantitative in nature because its goal is

to understand the relationship between an independent and

dependent variable in a population. Since a survey

questionnaire is quantitative, this uses statistical analysis

to collect data and the result of it will be used as a benefit

for both the independent and dependent variable.

Population and Locale of the Study

The respondents that composed the scope of this study are

the students in the Elementary Department (grades 3,4,5, and

6) and excluded (grades 1 and 2) enrolled at Educare College,

Inc. for the School Year 2019-2020. The researchers had

limited the respondents to the said grade level since it was

observed that the past research has shown that people who are

older are more likely to excel less than younger people when

it comes to English literacy. (Go, 2017).
