DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Co-ordinator: Mr Wilson Rao

The Department of Information Technology has an organizational structure that responds

dynamically to the evolution in IT and its research fields. It explores various fields such as
Programming, Electronics, Networking, Web technologies etc. A state of autonomy helps in
shaping the students into IT professionals of the future. The programme also sharpens the
students’ practical concepts with the help of leading edge laboratories.

The international collaboration with the University of Fraser Valley, Canada extends students
an opportunity to gain an in-depth exposure to a different study environment.

The orientation program, held at the dawn of the academic year, this time bigger and better,
took a rather different approach. The parents were acquainted with the array of opportunities
that the department provides and the students were briefed through a visual input of the next
three years that they will bear witness to in our department.

Along with the technological skills, the students are developing their research skills by
showcasing their abilities and talent in various competitions. Second year students
participated in Jai Hind’s annual research competition, Xplore. In addition to this, students
also participated in the annual inter-collegiate event- Avishkar Research Convention.

The placement cell of the department of IT was established to place our fresh graduates into
organisations and companies worth their calibre. The department has placed the students in
well know companies such as; Larsen &Toubro, where 5 students got placed with a package
of 2.5L per annum; Infosys where 26 students got placed with a package of 2.2 L per annum;
Capgemini where 20 students got placed with a package of 2.50 L per annum.

collaboration with Ms. Rashmi Joshi, towards a cleaner environment. We took this step for a
greener environment along with societies and other colleges collecting 450 kgs of E-waste.
Cyberstrike, the departments’ technical fest witnessed tech-based events like coding
contests, PUBG matches, heated debates and an array of scrumptious food stalls. This year
the event witnessed a large influx of students from various colleges and a closing ceremony.
Fun events kept the spirits high throughout the department. A special mention to our BSc I.T.
