SECTION – A(40 marks)

QUESTION 1:

a) Solve the pair of linear equations by substitution method


𝑥 − 7𝑦 + 42 = 0 and 𝑥 − 3𝑦 = 6 [3]

b) The mean age of 7 children is 10 years. If the age of 6 children, in years are 8, 9, 6, 12, 14
and 11 then find the age of the seventh child. [3]

c) Read the following graph and answer the following questions: [4]

i) What information is given by the bar graph?


ii) Which state is the largest producer of Wheat?
iii) Which state has total production (sugar and wheat) maximum?
iv) Which state has total production (sugar and wheat) minimum?

QUESTION 2:

a) In the following figure AD ⊥ CD, CB ⊥ CD. If AQ = BP and DP = CQ, prove that


∠DAQ = ∠CBP. [3]

b) In the circle with center O, AD = DB = 16cm. and DE = 8cm. [3]


Find the radius of the circle.

c) Kiran invests ₹ 8000 for 2 years at a certain rate of interest, compounded annually. At the end
of one year, this sum amounts to ₹ 8960. Calculate:
i) the rate of interest per annum.
ii) the amount due at the end of second year. [4]

QUESTION 3:

a) Five years ago, a man was 5 times his son’s age. Ten years hence, he will be 2 times his
son’s age. Find their present ages. [3]

b) Find the angles of ∆ABC if ∠A = 3∠C = 2(∠B+∠C). [3]

c) Construct a grouped frequency distribution table for the following data by taking classes
13 – 22, 23 – 32…… Also find the range of the data.

QUESTION 4:

a) Tanmay invests some money at compound interest and finds that it will amount to
₹ 28,600 in 2 years and ₹ 34,606 in 4 years. Find the sum. [3]

b) In the figure given below, X and Y are mid-points of AB and AC respectively. [3]
Given that BC = 6cm, AB = 5.4cm and AC = 5cm, calculate the perimeter of trapezium XYCB.

c) AB and CD are two equal chords of a circle intersecting at P as shown in the figure.
If ∠OPC = 55O then find ∠CPB. [4]

QUESTION 5:

a) In what time will ₹ 20000 amounts to ₹ 23328 at 8% per annum compounded annually? [3]

b) The following numbers are pre-arranged in descending order and their median is 25 [3]
then find the value of 𝒙.
50, 42, 35, 2 𝒙 +10, 2 𝒙 – 8, 12, 11, 8.

c) PQRS is a rhombus. A, B, C and D are mid-points of sides of the rhombus as shown


in the figure. Prove that ABCD is a rectangle. [4]

QUESTION 7:

a) A two-digit number is such that the ten’s digit exceeds thrice the unit’s digit by 3 and [3]
the number obtained by interchanging the digits is 2 more than twice the sum of the
digits. Find the number.

b) ABCD is a parallelogram. E and F are the mid-points of AB and CD respectively. [3]


GH is any line that intersects AD, EF and BC in G, P and H respectively.
Prove that GP = PH.

c) Construct a cumulative frequency table from the following frequency distribution. [4]

a) The SI on a certain sum for 2 years is ₹ 1600 and CI on the same sum at the same [3]

half yearly and the simple interest for a year is ₹ 80. If the rate of interest is 5%, find the
sum.

b) S and R are the points on the circumference of the semicircle described on diameter PQ. [3]
If PS = SR and ∠SPQ = 56O. Calculate the values of ∠ROQ and ∠PQR.

QUESTION 11:

a) Find the amount and compound interest on ₹16000 for 3 years at 10%, 8% and 6% [3]
for successive years.

b) Find the median of the following observations: [3]

If 58 is replaced by 85 then what will be the new median.

c) QI and RI bisect exterior angle RQT and QRS. If ∠P = 50O then find ∠QIR. [4]
