JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Public Area Supervisor


REPORTS TO: Executive Housekeeper / Asst. Executive Housekeeper
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping
SECTION: Public Areas

BASIC FUNCTION
Public Area Supervisor is responsible for the cleanliness of hotels public areas including hotel exteriors.
He or She also need to train and inspect the performance of assigned public area attendants ensuring
that all procedures are completed as per the hotel's operating standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise the day to day cleaning of hotel public areas.

2. Perform routine inspections of all public areas, service areas, and storerooms.

3. Schedule and supervise deep cleaning and any other projects.

4. Supervise and coordinate pest control, flowers, plants and periodical deep cleaning
operations on all area of responsibility.

5. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.

6. Anticipate guest's needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and
according to time of day.

7. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.

8. Assign duties and coordinate breaks for assigned staff.

9. Ensure that assigned staff have reported to work, and also document any late or absent
employees.

10. Prepare and distribute assignment work sheets to assigned staff and review priorities.

11. Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.

12. Clean public areas in emergency situations.

13. Efficiently manage stock control and the maintenance of all equipment.

14. Issue supplies/goods to staff at beginning of shift in order to control inventory.

15. Report all maintenance defects and follow up with Engineering.

JOB TITLE: Pest Control Technician


REPORTS TO: Executive Housekeeper
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for identifying, selecting, mixing, and applying chemical or manual solutions to get rid of
pests. Identifies pest problem and appropriate solution, applies chemical or trap, and removes dead
rodents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Spray chemical solutions, powders, and gases on or near surfaces of a building or house to
eliminate pests.
2. Identify invading pests, including rats, termites, snakes, wasps, ants, spiders, mosquitos, or bed
bugs.
3. Set mechanical traps and place bait.
4. Remove dead rodents after extermination.
5. Ensure house or building is empty when product is applied.
6. Air out residence after application.
7. Identify damage to property.
8. Inspect property to ascertain wall and roof porosity and possible sites of pest invasion.
9. Access infested locations.
10. Cut or bore into buildings to access infested areas.
11. Pore pesticides over location.
12. Clean and remove pesticides after application.
13. Study preliminary reports and diagrams of infested area and determine treatment type required
to eliminate and prevent recurrence of infestation.
14. Measure area dimensions requiring treatment.
15. Clean and remove blockages to facilitate application.
16. Position and fasten edges of tarpaulins over building and tape vents to ensure air-tight
environment and check for leaks.
17. Manage workers involved in application.
18. Check for possible leaks or exposure.
JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Head Groundsman


REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager / Executive Housekeeper
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping
SECTION:

BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for the general maintenance of the gardens, plants and lawns at the Hotel. And also
maintain the beautification of the lawns and gardens in order to attract guests to hotels lush and green
surroundings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, seed
sowing, bed preparation and planting.

2. The use and maintenance of hand tools and basic light machinery.

3. The use of cylinder and rotary mowers, strimmers, leaf blowers.

4. Adjustments of mower height and quality of cut, etc.

5. Oil level checks and check for damage to any mower.

6. Report equipment malfunctions to engineering as and when noticed.

7. To be aware of Health and Safety requirements noting that all duties must be carried out to
comply with current Health & Safety at Work legislation.

8. To ensure all equipment, machinery are stored securely and clean after use.

9. Plant and transplant flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns.

10. Maintain gardens by naturally fertilising, trimming and making sure that plants are receiving
adequate water.
11. Prune trees and hedges in ways that help the plants' health, are safe and look good.

12. Maintain lawn and grass areas using machinery, natural fertilisers but no chemicals.

JOB TITLE: Powder Room Attendant


REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Supervisor

BASIC FUNCTION

Performs routine duties in cleaning and servicing of guest rooms and baths under supervision of
housekeeping supervisor. Room attendant promotes a positive image of the property to guests and
must be pleasant, honest, friendly and should also able to address guest requests and problems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Enters and prepares the room for cleaning.

2. Dusts the room and furniture.

3. Replenishes guestroom and bath supplies.

4. Cleans the bathroom.

5. Cleans the closet.

6. Vacuums and racks the carpet.

7. Checks and secures the rooms.

8. Replenish amenities according to the operational standards.

9. Deliver and retrieve items on loan to guests e.g. iron and ironing boards

10. Ensure security of guest rooms and privacy of guests

11. Perform rotation cleaning duties (e.g. steam clean carpets, spring cleaning, super cleaning etc.)
as required

12. Cleans guest bathroom/bedroom/floor corridor.

13. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and
whatever time of day.

14. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.

BASIC FUNCTION

A Groundsman maintains the grounds of institutions such as schools, universities and public parks.
Groundsmen work to maintain these grounds functionally and aesthetically. Also known as Landscaper,
Groundskeeper, Grounds Maintenance Worker or Grounds Laborer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintaining condition and appearance of lawns, grounds and practice fields.

2. Laying out and marking playing fields.

3. Mowing, watering, and fertilizing lawns.

4. Planting, trimming, mulching and fertilizing flowers, shrubs and trees.

5. Cleaning and painting benches, poles and signs.

6. Keeping grounds free from snow and ice by using equipment such as snow blowers.

7. Keeping facilities and surrounding areas free from trash, litter, debris and weeds.

8. Cleaning and maintaining equipment and materials.

9. Following applicable safety guidelines and procedures.

JOB TITLE: Wall Window Washer


REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Manager
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

BASIC FUNCTION

The Cleaner will be responsible for keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition, and will perform
heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, cleaning and stocking restrooms,
washing walls, glass and upholstered furniture, and removing rubbish. Duties may include notifying
management of the need for repairs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performs general cleanup of all office facilities.

2. Sweeps, mops, polishes, refinishes resilient floors, vacuums and shampoos carpeted
areas, dumps garbage and recycle bins, performs all cleaning aspects of halls, offices, board
rooms, restrooms, lunchroom as well as washes walls, windows, upholstered furniture and
window coverings

3. Cleans and stocks restroom facilities

4. Cleaning the arena bowl (seating area)

5. Monitors work quality, trains as needed.
