“Ikalawang Taunang Talastasan sa Kasaysayan at Pamanang Rizaleño”

In this webinar, I have learned a lot from the speaker about the topic
“Ikalawang Taunang Talastasan sa Kasaysayan at Pamang Rizaleno” that held via
zoom and FB-LIVE dated August 31, 2021 . The Speaker May Arlene Torres was the
one who discussed the local history and all the topic for todays webinar.

From the start of webinar, the speaker introduces all the members who
participated to make this webinar. At the beginning of the lecture, she starts at the
background of our local history and Dr. Samuel K. Tan said “it is the solemn duty of
every tribe, group, sector, region, locality, village or society to provide the national
community with the histories of their own people.” In other words, the hope of
enriching Philippine national history lies in the hands of every one of us who can
write the histories of our own town in any vehicle that we may find convenient and
useful. MC Carl Likas stated that the Galleon trade or Galleon de manila is kind of
trading that comes from Mexico to go and back to the Philippines in the times of
spaniards. From the next speaker, Mr. Allan Corrales who discussed the history of
Cainta Rizal, he said that Cainta was the gateway to the east in Rizal. He said that
Cainta Rizal was considered as the Philippines' richest municipality, today, Cainta is
as charming as it is prosperous. Known as the “Bibingka Capital” of the country,
Cainta remains rooted in cottage industries and traditional practices. Cainta, Rizal
remains the richest municipality with P4. 93 billion. Cainta Rizal founded on
November 30, 1571, Cainta was a fiercely independent village that fought valiantly
against the Spaniards but was later defeated and became a visita (annex) of Taytay in
1571 under the Jesuits. And for the next speaker, who speaks about the history of
Jala-jala. According to speaker, Jalajala was in the heart of the ancient kingdom of
Bai and Mai (Be'it or Ma'it) the Gatmaitan of the noble Maitans of 1277 A.D. This
peninsula was called “a little piece of paradise.” It has a majestic landscape which can
be from the high portion of Mt. Sembrano as well as from Talim Island. The name
Jalajala originated according to the story of the other people and the story was “one
day there was two spainiards who ask COMO SELLAMA ESTE SITIO? And the
people from the lake said HALAAN PO. The spaniards, thinking it was the right
answer to their question, began calling the place “Halaan”. As years passed by, the
name “HALAAN” was later changed to JALA JALA. There’s another folk about the
jalajala “hogs” or jala jala pigs also known as “berk jala”.

After listening to this webinar, I learned a lot from the history of

Municipalities of Rizal. My main takeaway is we need to remember where we came
from and share the knowledge to other people to become aware on what are the
history of our homeland and be proud of our national heroes who sacrificed and
fought for our country.
