Galaxis radiant ceiling panels –

Galaxis Z with supply air function
The technology at a glance Energy-saving benefits
conditioned supply air is introduced Sole heating with Galaxis Z radiant ceiling panels is
in combination with radiant ceiling panels energy-efficient due to their low temperature
supply air unit consisting of: stratifications and lower air temperature. There is
air duct also the potential to save electrical energy when
supply air spigot purely heating without the need for ventilation.
linear openings, each with two air deflection Only when there are large numbers of people or
elements there is a need for night ventilation, for example, is
pipe connection for the ceiling radiant panel mechanical ventilation needed.
for installation between two radiant ceiling panels Any cushions of heat under the ceiling are also
(600 mm or 900 mm panel width) effectively minimised.
installation height 6 – 8 m
impact-proof design

Function
The Galaxis Z combines radiant heating with the
simultaneous supply of centrally conditioned
outside air, thereby saving space and energy.
Galaxis Z guarantees thermally comfortable heating
with the targeted supply of fresh air to the occupied
zone. This works particularly effectively with a
decentralised air conditioning concept.
Ideally, a ventilation unit supplies air quality-
controlled fresh air, which is then supplied to the
space through the radiant ceiling panel with supply
air element.
The supply air enters the occupied area draught-free
with an ideal induction effect, thanks to adjustable
linear outlets.

Applications
Wherever static heating is favoured but there is no
room available on the floors or walls, heating and
ventilation with Galaxis Z radiant ceiling panels is
the right solution. The units come into their own
especially in buildings with an intermittent heat
requirement, such as in sports halls or multi-purpose
halls: if there is no need for increased ventilation,
the space is simply and comfortably heated in an
energy-saving manner by radiation.
In the event of larger sports events and/or with
larger audiences, fresh air is fed in energy-efficiently
and/or to specific areas.

44 Design information | Hydraulic control Kampmann technical catalogue – Galaxis radiant ceiling panels

Hydraulic control

Design the control to ensure that there is a constant Outside temperature-led flow temperature control
water flow rate. To do so, we recommend the
installation of 3-way or 4-way motorised valves with
a primary in the heating circuit. The water flow rate
remains constant with the smoothly regulated
temperature in the heating circuit. Falling below the
required minimum water flow rate would lead to
reduced output from the radiant heating panel.

Lower water content coupled with constant flow

speeds permit very good controllability and short
response times, so that efficient heating and an even
temperature distribution is achieved.

With controlled reduced water volumes, note

that certain smaller areas may not be sufficiently
heated, especially if opposite end connections are
selected.

Demand-led control options, included:

outside temperature-led control of the flow
temperature with the room temperature as the
control variable
zone control of radiant ceiling panels with varying
Zone control
hall indoor temperatures with weather-led flow
temperature control
Zone l, e.g. 14°C Zone ll, e.g. 17°C
The indoor temperature is detected according to the
size of the hall by one of more rooms sensors (mean
value).
Ideally room sensors are used, which measure the
temperature perceived. With conventional room air
sensors, the setpoint must be set to the lower room
temperature conventionally used with radiant ceiling
panels.

The operating times of radiant ceiling panels can be

set using timers. It is also sensible to split them into
control groups, for instance dividing them into
heating zones based on the points of the compass.

We also recommend hydraulic balancing of the

radiant ceiling panels with flow control valves or
balancing valve combinations (see page 53) or with
a control valve combination for automatic flow
control (see page 58) or in accordance with the
Tichelmann connection principle (pages 36 and 37).
