KABU Transcript Lesson 1: The Method

Video 3: Trial and Error

Okay welcome back so let's stay with Abraham for now and let's try to imagine what type of learning
process he must have gone through in order to formulate this methodology called Kabbalah. Now, if
he knew that what he had to do is to bring down this positive force and balance out the negative ego
then why did he do it directly? We know actually from chronicles that Abraham was a Babylonian
priest, he used to sell idols, so why didn't he just go into a Babylonian temple, put his hands up, sit on
the pew and pray and say “hey Creator I need this force!” and maybe teach everyone around him how
to pray and do it directly. Why wouldn't that be enough?

Now at that point he would have learned his first lesson - which is that there is the law of equivalence
of form; essentially if you have two different desires, one being the desire to bestow and the other one
that desire to receive, they are completely opposed to each other, in spirituality there cannot be any
contact, at all. So in this case there is Abraham's desire or our desire - as the creature that we want to
receive, and the Creator that wants to bestow. However if you place an intention on top of the desire,
to bestow, in other words the desire was to receive for itself but in order to bestow, meaning they are
going in opposite directions, now you can connect them.

So great that was his second lesson, fantastic I need an intention. So why didn’t he from that point on
just live his life with that intention. I wake up in the morning I have breakfast for the Creator. The
Creator wants to give me light, wants to give me bestowal, fine then I want to give him the same. So
now we are in equivalence right? So I'll take a nap I'll do it for Him, I'll have lunch I'll do it for Him, and
maybe he could then share that with all the Babylonians and we could always have that intention for
the Creator.

Now would that be enough? Well again the answer is no. And let's study that a little bit according to a
diagram so we get the idea. So if I have the desire to receive and I want to connect to the desire to
bestow which is positive then what happens? nothing! There is no connection. I need an intention, an
intention to the bestow. However I can't do it directly with a Creator because Kabbalah is a practical
methodology. I need feedback. If I'm working towards the Creator which I cannot see I cannot touch,
then how do I know that I'm not working for my ego? How do I know that I'm not fooling myself? How
do I know that I'm not bestowing in order to receive? could be, right?

No Kabbalah is very practical, it says that you have to make a real correction, you have to experience
it on this plane on the corporeal plane and then you will make that connection with the Creator. So
what I need in fact is “others” I need to work against others, that will really reveal my motivations and
my attitudes in actual fact.

Now, in Kabbalah we also have another advice that the Kabbalists give us. Namely it is call “from
Your actions we shall know You”. So what are the actions of the Creator? They are bestowal, and
they are connection and they are wholeness right, to be as one. So those are the things that we need
to practice and that we practice in our group in order to come to equivalence of form.

Now it must be noted that our primary intention is not for each other, it is for the Creator, however we
do the work between us. And where is the Creator revealed? Do I reveal Him directly? Like between
me and Him? No, we reveal it again between us, He is revealed between us. He is the glue that is
revealed.
Now I want to read you a quote that is from introduction to the Book of Zohar from Baal HaSulam. And
he writes here: “Bare in mind that the Mitzvot (actions) between man and man come before the
Mitzvot between man and God, because the bestowal upon one's friend brings one to bestow upon
his maker.”

So let's try and remember this and always have this type of mind as we move forward

people who are in contact with that side, with the spiritual world, namely a Kabbalist.

So we also learn that humanity has tried this many times, has tried to implement socialist or
communist ideals on on a population. We have examples of the Kibbutzim in it Israel and all sorts of
different political ideologies to try to bring people together, to almost forced them to share, to force
them to love.

But we see that these things have not worked, they have not flourished. We actually see the opposite
that these regimes they turn almost aggressive and violent where people are obliged by force by fear
to connect with each other, imagine that, is completely opposite.

Kabbalah says, that the connection among ourselves our selves has to be natural, it means I need to
literally feel the other, to be able to understand the other's desires and if I'm able to do that then I will
naturally be able to want to be connected and be able to want to work for the other in a natural way.

So all these laws, all these coercions, all these different mechanisms that we have to keep society to
work together, oblige people, these eventually do not work. So we need to come to something very
special which is adhesion or integration with each other.

I want to read you a quote from Rav Michael Laitman which talks very directly to this point.

And he says; “Connection is called that I don’t feel a difference between you and me, All in all, I don’t
feel any difference, simply two become as one. In everything, in an inner desire there is no difference.
I feel your desire as my desire and it’s located in me. Not in your body rather it’s in me. Bodies
disappear and there is only one desire. This is a constant state that is called Adam, the system that is
called Adam. Two that are connected like this, this is already a part of Adam. We can say that it is
Adam, and the more (people connected like this) it generates more details of this one soul, more
accuracy, a better resolution, more spiritual attainment.”

So as you can see correction of these desires comes from a feeling of connection a feeling of
harmony, a feeling of balance... that I'm not forced to do anything. I want to do it in-fact, and this is the
sensation that the people in Babylon actually existed, that followed Abraham. They felt themselves as
part of a single organism completely filled with this upper force called the Creator. So this is what we
are going to learn about now in this next section we are going to close off this story about babylon, so
stay with us.
