KABU Transcript Lesson 1: The Method

Video 1: Introduction to Connection

Hello and welcome to Kabbalah in Action this is lesson one (1) ‘The Method”, now in this lesson we
are going to be focusing on the purpose of Kabbalah, in essence it’s relevance today, the origins of
Kabbalah, where it was born, and we are also going to start to look at some of the forces which we
are going to have to start working with if we want to practice Kabbalah correctly.

Now get ready because you’re going to hear this word an awful lot, this word connection, ok, you're
also going to hear integration and unity and wholeness, it’s essentially the same thing. You are going
to hear it a lot because and simply because that is the thrust of our work, that is what we do - to make
things happen.

Now when we are talking about connections we are actually talking about human connections, or
more specifically between the desires and their corresponding intention between us.

And when I tell people this is what we do, that in Kabbalah we connect intentionally people kind of
look at me confused maybe a little disappointed, they expect something else. Now I totally understand
them why they do that, but if we look really closely at our reality, if we look at our world, we will realise
that the only thing thing that truly enlivens, evolves and totally transforms our reality are billions and
billions of connections that are happening simultaneously.

Now, there are a few examples that I want to give you just to warm you up to the magical properties
that connection has. The first one is on the inanimate degree, let’s take a piece of graphite, just
regular like you have in a lead in a pencil. Its grey, it’s brittle, it’s weak, however if you change the
molecular structure of that matter, low and behold you get one of the hardest materials known to man,
namely a diamond. So just by changing the relationships between those molecules.

The next example that I like is with evolutionary biology. If you take unicellular organisms, and you put
them together, at the beginning they are going to be in conflict there is going to competition, but with a
little bit of time, about a million years actually, there will be some collaboration, there will be
connection, there will be cooperating between them and then all of a suddenly there will be a jump in
evolution and from unicellular organisms we get a superstructure or multicellular organisms - so a dog
a cat a trees, a human a brain all sorts of incredible things.

Now the third example which is very close to us, is on our degree, if you get - or you place a female a
male together, a woman and a man and you connect them, what do you get? You get the miracle of
life. So now you can start to see that there is tremendous potential, If you want excitement, you want
fireworks, you want miracles and magic, it’s all in those connections.

Now a Kabbalist, or someone who has reached the spiritual world, he or she is also a product of very
special connections that they made with desires that are outside of them, so essentially what they’ve
done is they been able to extend from outside or above their ego and change their reality. They feel
the world differently they perceive the world differently because they are outside their ego.

Now, the spiritual reason for our thrust towards connection in this conscious way actually (it) comes
from something that you may have heard about which is called “the shattering of the vessels”. Now
the shattering of the vessels or the shattering of the soul of Adam HaRishon this is actually our work.
We have to start putting back all these pieces and revealing this one collective desire which is
comprised of ten Sefirot. And in this network of connections that’s where we are going to be revealing
the upper force or what we call the Creator, that force that create us, that sustains us that enlivens us.
And this is what Kabbalah is about, it's about revelation.

Now before we get ahead of ourselves and into the actual practical work I want to take you back to
the origins of Kabbalah and this is going to teach us where is this role of connection, where did it
come from and why was Kabbalah being born in the first place.
