The Child and Adolescent Learners and Learning Principles

Name: Flores, Ma. May Program: BSE1-Fil

The concept or theory that I am reflecting on is about the 4 Stages of Cognitive

Development in Module 1. This is Jean’s Piaget’s theory on how children gain

knowledge, learning new information and to understand nature of intelligence.

For me I found it interesting that children are having some schemas that influence

them to learn and grow. I found it interesting because I’ve experienced it by myself in

the past. Like I know that there’s a typical dog that it has for legs, tail and it barks.

I’ve always seen a dog when I was a child. At the time, I assumed that all dogs were

the same. However, I've learned that all dogs are various breeds and sizes. It

influenced the way I think in some manner. As a result, I've learned a little bit about it.

I learned that while we are young, such as when we were children, we have our own
knowledge process based on what we hear and see in our environment, and we are

always adding new information to our minds.

This topic has made me realize that we should be the ones who serve as great role

models for young children in order for them to gain a better understanding of life. I

believe that I’ll be able to apply these kinds of concepts in my daily life or in my

future, especially in my professional life, based on what I have learned as adults, we

are readily influenced by young children, therefore we must guide them to satisfy their

curiosity while also assisting them in learning and growing as individuals.
