National foreword
This British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Technical
Sector Board for Building and Civil Engineering and is the English language
version of EN 324-1:1993, Wood-based panels — Determination of dimensions of
boards — Part 1: Determination of thickness, width and length.
EN 324-1 was produced as a result of international discussion in which the UK
took an active part.
The principle of the method is technically equivalent to A.2.1 to A.2.4.2 and A.2.7
to A.2.8 of BS 1142:1989 Specification for fibre building boards; to 7.1.1 to 7.2.5
of BS 5669-1:1989, Particleboard — Part 1 Methods of sampling, conditioning
and test; and to A.2 to A.2.4 and A.3, A.4.1, A.4.4, A.5 and A.6 of BS 6566-4:1985,
Plywood — Part 4 Specification for tolerances on the dimensions of plywood
panels, which will be withdrawn in due course.
A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a
contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application.
Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity
from legal obligations.
