Company Persuasive Message

September 1, 2021

For the fall 2021 semester, I believe our team’s focus should be on Sprouts Farmers Market Inc.
A little background on the company: they are a publicly traded supermarket corporation known
for natural produce and organic, health-based food selections. The first location opened in 2002
in Chandler, Arizona, 96 miles from the University of Arizona and now, they have expanded to
360 stores and 35,000 employees. Today, the company closed at $24.34 on the U.S. Nasdaq
stock market, up five dollars since the first of the year. Below is a brief review on Sprouts’
unique company infrastructure and reasons for why this company should be a top option for our
integrative project this semester.

My heart is slightly biased due to Sprouts’ appeal to myself; they carry not only health-conscious
food with ‘labels you can pronounce’, but they are a leading producer of allergen-friendly food. I
have intolerances to certain foods and Sprouts is my number one choice for major grocery
retailers, where I have the most ease in shopping.

Sprouts’ marketing is a key aspect of the company, and part of the reason why they are so
successful, in my opinion, maintaining a sanitary, fresh (you can smell it in the air), food-stand-
like environment inside. The workers there are extremely friendly, and even the front page of
their Code of Conduct states in large neon letters: Integrity, Responsibility, and Honesty.

The downside of Sprouts’ well-known user-friendly network: the work environment rating
received a 2.9 out of 5, according to Glassdoor. On another employee website, Indeed.com, the
average rating was below a 2.5 and multiple employees mentioned the “poor management” and
“lack of belonging” and trust in colleagues.

But their downfall is our uprising, with the opportunity for our group to come up with real plans
to make monumental change at a company that has great potential but currently, a horrible
reputation. With society heavily focused on health and wellness, this company is leading in that
industry and is projected to for the next decade.

Their latest innovations are with social media target marketing and in-house product
differentiation, as described by the CEO Jack Sinclair in May of 2020. Post-pandemic goals for
Sprouts are e-commerce and at-home delivery, entering in partnerships with newly popular
grocery delivery services like Instacart.

Sprouts has the great low prices, high customer rating, and strong following base, but the
business interior needs a lot of work which means the opportunity for change is huge. Employees
will be willing to state their viewpoints, as seen in the harsh online forum responses, and we will
have lots of resources to pull from. With Sprouts’ internal controversy and external popularity,
we have a lot of room to work and discover this company for our detailed semester project. For
