Future of cameras

Increased capabilities:

Cameras are increasingly becoming more capable of multiple feats such as detecting shortwave
length infrared light while also seeing visible lights which is extremely useful for deep learning and
AI tasks as the camera can pick up out almost invisible defects on manufactured parts.
Even though Covid caused a reduction in supply causing reduced capacity, the trend hasn’t halted
instead the sales of multispectral cameras has increased as these are used in quality checks of
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like surgical masks, gloves, and gowns.
There has also been an increase in sales coming from the use of cameras in logistic systems for
automated distribution systems and smart warehouses
This reduces face to face factory floor interaction while increasing efficiency, allow for increased
loads and keep employees safe.

Higher Camera quality in a smaller package:

Under current technology cropping in a photo means losing quality while cameras with good zoom
lens taking up lots of space, requiring multiple lens and adding bulk. Scope Photonics has
invented a way in which a single lens can mimic a whole series of lens system. Meaning lighter
cameras and reduce camera bump on phone while allowing for lossless zooming capability. This
will also help in reducing the weight of virtual reality equipment not to mention that reduction in
weight of even a fraction of a gram can be a big deal for delicate technology such as satellites and
drones.

Increased use in data analytics:

Visual data is one of the most important factors in data analytics. High performance cameras are
crucial to the success of autonomous driving and will open door for future opportunities for
applications in smartphones, healthcare, surveillance and more.

Advancement in satellite imagery:

Images taken from space are critical as they are used to capture devastation of natural disasters,
to observe large fields of agricultural crops or for national security purposes. In the future as
cameras become better at depth sensing, the 3D model of earth will become more accurate giving
the ability to accurately track real time changes in better detail.
