Backup Domain Controller

Objective
A backup domain controller (BDC) is a role a windows NT computer takes an to help manage
access to network resources . The BDC maintains a read only copy of a user accounts database
and verifies logons from users.

Problem
If without BDC we can back –up our losing data. Another thing if PDC sever will stop service
we can give service anymore until repair PDC sever.

Solution
BDC sever is not only back –up our losing data but also replace in PDC sever when PDC sever
stop service BDC will became a PDC sever. BDC sever is can product losing data and Fault-
Tolerance and Data Recovery.

 Go to sever manger and click add roles and features.

 Select add a domain controller to an existing domain because now you are making
BDC

 Click select and type (PDC) sever administrator user name and password.
 When you type a username you must type like that (username@domainn name)
(eg. administrator@GLB.com)

 Now we need to go PDC sever and copy ifm file because we don’t
have ifm file in this sever. Let’s go.

 In PDC sever go common box type this four common

1. ntdsutal (press enter)
2. activate instance ntds (press enter)
3. ifm (press enter)
4. create sysvol full c;\file name (press enter) and wait a
second

 Copy this file in you are USB stick or others

 Paste in BDC sever any partition

 In PDC (sever) in picture (16) chose fii file.

 Click ok and next.
