1. Determine the characteristics of a good coach.


A good coach is positive, enthusiastic, supportive, trusting, focused, goal-
oriented, knowledgeable, observant, respectful, patient and a clear communicator

2. Identify the elements of good coaching session in order to implement


competitive performance
 establish a purpose

 establish ground rules

 keep focused

 avoid monologues

 speak clearly and simply, and

 stay open to new ideas.

3.Establish the importance of communication in the coaching process

It is through the communication process that the sharing of a common meaning between the sender
and the receiver takes place. Individuals that follow the communication process will have the
opportunity to become more productive in every aspect of their profession.
Effective communication leads to understanding.Being an effective communicator means that you can
get your message across to everyone you coach.

3. Success as a leader depends on the success of others.


Being called a successful leader is not self entitled. A person will be called a
successful leader if he/she becomes a trustworthy leader. For the trust is element
that defined how people experienced you as a leader.It’s the foundation of any
successful, healthy, thriving relationship. Without it, your leadership is doomed.
Creativity is stifled, innovation grinds to a halt, and reasoned risk-taking is
abandoned. Success as a leader depends on the success of others which basically
means that a person will be called successful leader if his/her apprentice becomes
successful as well.

4. How do coaching and mentoring contribute to leadership develop


ment?
When coaching is effectively used, it helps employees build new skills faster, facilitates pride and
confidence in the work, and fosters trust with the boss. Most companies with a coaching leadership style
integrated into the hierarchy have improved employee performance, fewer mistakes and greater
productivity.
