I. About our project:
1. What is the context of the project?

Bonsai have long been known for the effect of decorating workspaces. However, the influence of
bonsai is not limited to decoration; it also has a number of surprising impacts that you may not
be aware of, such as the following:

• Bonsai purifies the air by sucking up small dust particles and bringing in fresh air.
• Bonsai has the impact of making people's moods more pleasant and comfortable. Trees
assist in the care and protection of our eyes. After a long day at work, take 5-10 minutes to
care for yourself. Looking at potted plants helps to relieve tension, creates a pleasant mood,
and your eyes are also refreshed and cared for.
• Placing a bonsai on your desk will also assist you attract good fortune, smooth work, and
easy advancement. You may select a good tree for your age based on your age.
• Bonsai may also absorb radiation released by electrical equipment such as laptops, phones,
and other similar gadgets, which can harm your skin and health.
• To safeguard your health, you can place a pot near your computer. Cactus, betel nut, tiger
tongue, spider plant, aloe vera, narcissus, succulent plant, and other plants have this
specific power. Some plants, such as five houseplants, rosemary, mint, pine, and others,
are both edible and pest repellent.
2. Demand of customers: New ideas

Young and modern homeowners show a break in decorating the living room with potted plants
and plants on the wall for a wonderfully beautiful living room space with the unique wall hanging
plants: The breakthrough in the design of bonsai is the transformation of traditional potted plants,
into sets of pictures, or potted plants on the wall, ... fancy, bringing excitement to the homeowner.
Wooden frames, ceramic pots, porcelain pots, plastic pots, ropes, ... are rustic materials, so they
are often combined to create a decorative style of bonsai with natural beauty.

Ornamental plants to decorate the living room balcony:

• Objectives:
With the hope to bring good service quality to customers not only in terms of aesthetics
but also to strengthen the customer's spirit after a long tiring day. We also hope to make
homeowners understand the importance of indoor plants, bringing the core value of a new
way of looking at this type.

II. Operation:
1. Preparing for opening the office:
First, we started to build the company by building an office to facilitate the exchange and
development of ideas for our products. Through a market survey on prices and depending on the
suitable import places, which are near to the company to minimize the extra costs. We decided to
choose Hoa Sen stationery with the address at “Gỗ trang trí” - 86 Nguyễn Thái Sơn, Ward 3,
District Go Vap, Ho Chi Minh City, and the distance is just 10km, nearly 20 minutes to arrive.
This is the place to pick up the goods and arrange for the office.
• After discussing and agreeing on prices for things to buy for the office with the shop owner,
we also bought ourselves necessary items such as meeting tables, single desks and chairs,
plastic chairs at an affordable price. Because it is a large store, they had support for shipping
to our company.
• For technology devices that support management, exchange and planning for the company
such as desktop computers, desktop phones, printers, we import goods from Quang Minh
electric supermarket - 181/7, 3/2 Road, District 10 and transport them to the company by
our own vehicle.
• And for other office necessities such as ballpoint pens, file covers, adhesive tapes, etc., we
buy directly at Hoa Sen stationery store - 160/78 Phan Huy Ich, Ward 12 , Go Vap District,
HCMC. With a long-term pickup contract and proactively deliver to the office and pay at
the end of each quarter.
• The remaining things such as shelves, wardrobes, secondary equipment such as air
conditioners, fans, lights and tools to clean the office are provided by the landlord when
renting the office.
2. Preparing for store:
We chose our store at 4/2 Phan Ke Binh, Da Kao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. First, this
coworking space helps us save space rental costs because below the building is a coffee shop.
This location brings our store many benefits in terms of product development as well as the
brand. With the advantage of being located in District 1, we can confidently attract a large
number of visitors not only in the country but also abroad. Our products and services are always
aimed at young and nature-loving customers. In addition, inside the store, we have a green and
quiet space to help customers have the most relaxing experience with the coffee service below
the store. Secondly, our store is also a place for customers such as office workers, students,
students, foreign tourists, ... can come to work, study or date. Although our store is located in an
alley, with today's modern technology and the quality of our products, people can easily come to
experience and buy our products. Lastly, although the front of our store has a bit of a narrow
space and can't accommodate many vehicles for customers to earn, with the services and
products we bring to customers, we are confident that we can retain customers. After, feel all the
services as well as the variety of products we bring to customers.

Store is an important element for people who work there and for the customer too. So it needs to
be convenient and lovely. We have listed out the stuff we need to buy and do some research on the
internet. We decided to get it on shopee for a small price with high quality. Equipment to take care
of the tree: Mini shovel, Watering-spray, Hose, Cutter, Shelf for plant, Fertilizer, Soil, Coconut
fiber.

3. Preparing for trees:


The product is the core of the store, we need it to be high quality but with an acceptable price. We
looked at many places and asked acquaintances about where to buy trees. We found out that Vuon
Cay Viet, a well-known garden, sold trees for a small price. It is located at 20 Lê Lâm, Phú Thạnh,
Tân Phú, Hồ Chí Minh. We chose this store because it already has its own reputation for selling
trees in good condition and that is also what we want for our store, high quality products. We
contacted the owner of Vuoncayviet and asked him out for a drink to discuss more about our
business. At first it was not very positive for us because the price is too high and hard to get back
any money, but we had come to an agreement that if we buy over 1000 trees they can help us with
a better price. We see an opportunity in this situation so we try to set up a long-term business plan
and ask them whether they are interested in a long-term business. We successfully lowered their
price by promising a long-term corporation and buying over 1000 trees. After reaching an
agreement, they said they will help us 70% of the shipping from the garden to store so we only
pay around 2 million VND. The trees will be shipped when we need them by truck.
Our purchasing order include:Flowered silk cloth, Polka, Parlor palm, Rubber plant, PEPEROMIA
RED LUNA, Rosemary, Cactus, Succulent, Tillandsia, Snowbush, snake plant, sen dolla bonsai,
venus flytrap, Sibonsai, Earth Star, Crown-of-thorns, Heteropanax fragrans, Aroid Palm,
Flowering Quince, Orchid, Mini Phalaenopsis, Sanseviera canaliculata. We bought 50 trees for
each kind of them so we can be diversified about our products. This helps us satisfy customer
demand.

❖ PLANTS PACKING PROCESS AND HOW TO SHIP GOODS AROUND HO CHI


MINH CITY:
The packaging process will be done carefully to best protect the green of the tree. When ordering
a shipping service, your products will be guaranteed not to collide and provide adequate heat and
air for the plants, with a well-ventilated shipping container and separated by floors to allow the
plants to grow. do not touch each other. All will be packed with paperboard and put into a carton
box with perforated holes to facilitate the plant's metabolism. In addition, before carrying out the
transportation process, the shop side also provided water for the plants, avoiding the lack of water
in the hot weather.
According to the personnel assignment, we have recruited 2 shippers to deliver the goods to the
guest house at their request. In addition, when customers place an order for the purpose of gifting,
the shop will carefully wrap the gift with attractive and attractive decor in accordance with the
meaning that the customer wants to send to the recipient. The decor price is only 150 thousand

❖ PLANT PACKING PROCESS AND HOW TO SHIP GOODS TO THE


PROVINCE:

For bonsai pots and ornamental accessories, TINY PLANT can be packed and shipped to the
customers easily by post without you having to worry at all.
For ornamental plants, succulents, cactus (not planted on miniatures),TINY PLANT will be
wrapped in soft paper, nylon and then placed in foam boxes (bins) as carefully as possible. After
that, the goods will be sent through the shipping unit or passenger car at customer's request.
Due to the particularity of ornamental plants, no two trees will be the same, so whenever a
customer places an order for a product of TINY PLANT, we will take a photo of the tree that is
available at the time of inquiry and send it to us. customers through Zalo, Facebook... to make
selections and purchase decisions.Soil, sand, gravel, etc. will be packed separately for customers
if they need it (note: it will increase weight and lead to increased transportation costs if customers
choose to transfer by post and transfer by bus).

The store will use a layer of newspaper wrapped around the product. When wrapping around the
tree we will try not to squeeze the leaves too tightly, leading to leaf breakage. Then TINY PLANT
will pack more layers of soft paper (or newspaper) and carefully wrap the tape to ensure that the
tree is not pushed or broken during transportation. After carefully wrapping the tree, Cay Xinh will
put it in a paper box or a foam box depending on the customer's request. The box must be strong

Note: Some samples of plants grown in pots and finished miniatures will be shipped to the
province by the company, but will advise you to choose to ship goods via passenger car to ensure

❖ Payment terms:
For ornamental plants, succulents, cactus, TINY PLAY will receive money before delivering
products to customers to ensure that customers will receive the goods. Because of tree products, if
the customer does not receive the goods to return, the rate of tree damage is 99% because the
carrier usually returns very slowly (usually 7-10 days). Particularly for ornamental pots and
decorative accessories, customers can receive goods and pay for the shipping unit. They only need
to put a small amount back to be responsible for receiving the goods.

When shipping goods through the garage, customers must deposit 100% of the goods before TINY
PLANT sends the products because they cannot ask the garage to collect the money. Currently,
TINY PLANT has worked with the shipping unit and will receive COD shipping nationwide with
all products if customers request it. Note: For orders > 300k, customers need to deposit 20% of the
order value by bank transfer or send a phone card code to confirm to receive the goods. Then we
will ship the goods and they will pay the remaining amount to the carrier.

5. Shipping:
There are 2 ways to send goods to the province: post office and transport by passenger car:
❖ Shipping via Viettel Post:
If customers choose to ship by post, TINY PLANT will send express delivery via Viettel Post so
that the tree can arrive as soon as possible. This way of shipping can ship goods nationwide, and
can send goods to the district, commune, ward where the customer lives. The time of receipt of
goods is decided by the carrier. If on time, customers will receive goods from 2-3 days for people
in big cities, but for people in districts and communes, it can take up to 5-6 days. And the fee is

❖ Shipping via passenger car:
If the customer chooses to transport by passenger car, TINY PLANT will pack and note the
perishable plants in the garage so that they can prioritize your queue as best as possible. This type
of shipping is very fast, customers can receive the plants within the same day (for the North,
Central) and 2 days if they are too far from the store, the shipping cost is also cheaper than by post
( customers will only lose 30k ship from the store to the passenger car station and a small amount
from the passenger car to the customer's place.(Note: if you order >500k, you will get free shipping
from the store to the station).

5. Store’s Supervisor:

7. Shift:

A desk job will be working from 9AM to 5PM, there will be 45 minute of lunch break in the
afternoon. And they will work 5 days a week, from Monday to Friday. For office there not much
to do at working place, basically you can do it anywhere, so we don’t require much time
For part-time job there will be 2 shifts for the employee, first shift is from 8AM to 3PM, the
second shift is from 3PM to 10PM, each shift is 7 hours of working. And staff need to contribute
the shift carefully because the store always needs people to watch out, water plants, serving
customer, delivery so it requires lot of time.

large range of categories. It has some unique product offerings that are not
provided by competitors. That is the reason why we easily keep track of in-
demand service and package options and up-sell bundles with low-selling
rates through increased marketing efforts, discounts and promos.
• In addition, TINY PLANT has a strong presence on social media with more
than hundreds of followers on the three most famous social media platforms:
Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. It has high levels of customer
engagement on these platforms with low customer response time.

• TINY PLANT’s product prices might be extravagant for high school and
university students since our company’s target audience are consumers who
have a middle and near high income. Furthermore, a few products have a
high market share, while most of the products have a low market share. This
reliance on a few products makes TINY PLANT vulnerable to external
threats if these few products suffer for any reason.
• Our business platform is online so freight costs always be considered
especially when the lockdown period is happening now. Consumers might
think that with the price they pay for our product, they deserve a freeship
promotion. However, the time it takes for products to be purchased and sold
are higher than the industry average, meaning that TINY PLANT builds up
on inventory adding unnecessary costs to the business so that we could
require customers to pay their delivery costs.
❖ OPPORTUNITIES:

• With the modernization of business processes, there has been a new trend
and a growth in sales of the e-commerce industry. This means that a lot of
people are now making purchases online. TINY PLANT might earn more
revenue by opening online stores in other e-commerce apps such as Lazada
or Shopee.
• The transport industry has been flourishing in the past few years and shows
growth potential in the future. This has reduced the costs of transportation,
which is beneficial for TINY PLANT as it will lower its overall costs.
❖ Through this lockdown timing, people are realizing that they must make
their living environment more green to avoid infectious diseases. Therefore,
consumers may seek sustainable products such as cactus or rosemary, they
not only decorate their space beautifully but they also can personalize their
lifestyle.

• Increased promotions by competitors have been a threat for TINY PLANT.


In most media, there is more clutter than ever, and customers are bombarded
with multiple messages. This reduces the effectiveness of promotional
messages by TINY PLANT. Moreover, there has been an increase in
competition within the industry putting downward pressure on prices. This
could lead to reduced revenue for TINY PLANT if it adjusts to the price
changes, or loss of potential customers if it does not.
• Although online purchases are thriving, before that, many fake and
fraudulent purchases have created a tendency to be wary when not being
checked in. This might leave a negative impression on customers whether
they can trust our brand.
2. Positioning:
The positioning map is built based on two characteristics that are price and
range of categories. Our target audience is middle and near high-income
customers so that we would provide them with premium services like we
may give them a chance to customize a houseplant with different occasions.
For instance, as a gift for your friends and family, you can choose cactus and
rosemary with exciting leaves since they might help you express your
personal style. In addition, customers should give a senior boss a fuchsia
bonsai in order that they could send respect and provide a green environment
to their boss. There has been an increase in competition within the same
field with various stores in northern areas like Totoro garden and Hus
garden. This leads to the fact that we are a pioneer to expand the business to
southern ones with higher-good service quality to customers not only in
terms of aesthetics but also to strengthen the customer's spirit after a long
tiring day. We also hope to make homeowners understand the importance of
indoor plants, bringing the core value of a new way of looking at this type.
3. Market Segmentation and Target Audience:

Our main target audience is men and women who have a middle and near high
income, want to make their living pace more green, and enhance their health
by personalizing their lifestyle through our premium customized houseplant
products. Moreover, our target market is not partial to traditional overt
advertising. Millennials and Generation Z value the experience that brands
can bring them. Our audience wants to see real people and real messaging they
can relate to and real messaging they can relate and respond to. We want to
highlight our customers’ lifestyles by improving your mood and well-being,
raising their awareness about the green environment.

• Tiny Plant targets the market where the living standards of the

campaigns that meet the needs of each market.

• Women/ Men
We target both male and female customers. We want to diversify our
potential customers. Moreover, providing products for both men and
women helps customers not only shop for themselves but also as
gifts such as crotons, Chinese evergreens, and stromanthe,
boyfriends for girlfriends, …

Thanks to gender segmentation, we are able to create product


differences while aiming at customers with different buying
sentiments. For women, they will love unique house plants that have
colorful and attractive foliage. As for men, they will prioritize
products that are convenient in their daily activities, giving them a
sense of comfort and simplicity.

• Mid-range income
Tiny Plant targets middle and near high-income customers. We
mean: the product is neither too expensive nor too cheap. Most
products usually fall between 400,000VND - 600,000VND. At this
price, customers can make a little effort to purchase a cactus that
they can self-design.
