Research Design
This study aims to lay more groundwork into studying the significant effect of the

star apple leaves and coconut husk in preventing diabetes. This study has various targeted

demographics to support, such as government agencies, medical fields, and fellow researchers, to

name a few. Quantitative design was utilized in this study and is encouraged for further use. In

this study the dependent variable will be the amount of star apple leaves and coconut husk

extract and the independent variable is the effectiveness of the product in preventing diabetes

where does the study has 3 set-ups.

Source of Materials

The materials that will be needed in this study is locally available and the researchers

has the access to it like the coconut husk and the star apple leaves. And also the tea bag can be

made at the researcher’s home and the mortar and the pestle that will be used to grind the star

apple leaves are also available at the researcher’s home.

Location of the Study

 The study will be conducted at the Researchers home because of the ongoing crisis

caused by Covid-19. In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the researcher conducted the testing on

their home since it was the only one available. The researcher can conduct the procedure in their

home since there is plenty of space and there are some sufficient materials on the said place.

Development process

I. Collection of materials needed

The researcher would gather the materials needed in the study like the star

apple leaves, coconut husk, and will prepare the mortal and the pestle that will be used in

grinding the star apple leaves and the blender for the extraction of coconut husk.

II. Preparation of tools or the materials that will be needed

The researcher needs to ensure that the blender is working properly and the

star apple leaves is needed to be fresh. The tea bag is homemade which means that

the researcher will create their own tea bag that will be used as a container for the

collected star apple leaves and coconut husk extract

III. Drying the star apple leaves and grinding it on the mortal and the pestle

The researcher needs to dry the star apple leaves directly on the sun for about

a couple of days and once done, the researcher needs to grind it using the mortal and

pestle for it to be put inside the tea bag

IV. Extraction of the coconut husk

The researcher needs to get the extract of the coconut husk using the blender

and when it’s done then it will also be put in the tea bag together with the grinded star

apple leaves.
 V. Testing the product

The researcher will now test the S.A.L.C.H.E tea by comparing the

effectiveness of varying amounts of star apple leaves and coconut husk in controlling

blood sugar level of the person by using the lancet to cause a drop of blood which can

be tested using the test strip.

Data Gathering Techniques

The data will be gathered by comparing the effectiveness of varying amounts of star

apple leaves and the coconut husk in controlling of blood sugar level of a person which can

cause the prevention of diabetes. Then, the quantitative data was compared. This study will use

the experimentation and the sensory analysis as a way on gathering data.

Statistical Analysis Techniques

A ANOVA test will be the appropriate for the study so it is the one that will be

applied. 3 set-ups were to be compared to each other, namely, the first set-up will be the set-up

with the most amount of star apple leaves and coconut husk extract and the second set-up will

denotes the set-up that has a minimal amount of star apple leaves and coconut husk extract and

lastly, the third set-up will be the one that will have the absence of star apple leaves and coconut

husk extract. The gaps between the amount of star apple leaves and coconut husk extract in the 3

set-up were taken into heavy consideration by the researcher, employing quantitative or

inferential statistics.
