This study on the development and validation of

Organic use of carabao excrement as an alternative air
deodorizer with lemon extract for General De Jesus College
was undertaken to determine whether the use of the product
would improve the scent of the rooms.
Requirement specifications were developed and were

used as basis for the development of the product. This
paper present the efficiency of formulation of an organic
air deodorizer from the carabao excrement with lemon
extract. This product is benign and safe to use as an air
deodorizer according to the observation of the researchers.

Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING
Carabao or Kalabaw is a native water buffalo in
Southeast Asia, Particularly, in the Philippines. It is one
of the important animal in the Philippines. Most especially
to farmers. Carabao help farmers in doing work in fields.
Not just to farmers. Carabao can also be a means of
transformation and source of products like milk, dairy
products like sweet candies, meat, costume, furniture and
many more.
We often see carabao in the streets or farms. The
researcher find a way to make the carabao manure be useful,
they come up with the idea of making it as an air
deodorizer.
When carabao manure become dried it can no longer
smell bad. In combining with carabao feces, the researcher
thought of adding it with other materials that can useful

in odor. They come up choosing lemon as one of the
important component in an alternative air deodorizer.
Lemon is a small thorny three with bright yellow
citrusy fruits, cultivated in all tropical and sub-tropical
region of the world. The lemon we consume is a cultivated
species and most likely a hybrid between lime and citron.
This ellipsoidal yellow fruit is one of the world’s
healthiest foods thanks to its sour juice, rich in citric
acid. The distinctive taste of lemon makes it a man
ingredients in any dishes in various cuisine from all
around the world, and an excellent natural remedy for
various ailments.
In our study, we have found other use for this
materials
Statement of Objective
The main objective of the study is to develop and
evaluate the use of carabao excrement as an alternative air
deodorizer.
This study aim to achieve the following objectives
1. To develop a carabao excrement as an alternative
air deodorizer with lemon extract for based on scientific
explanation
2. To evaluate to develop solution by means of

Significance of study
This study aims to use the carabao excrement as an
alternative air deodorizer with lemon extract.
Therefore,this study is deemed significant to the
following reasons:
To the students- the result of this research may inspire
student or aspiring researches to develop a study or
experiment like this using organic material.
To the school- this study serve as guide for school to
support the students in experimenting in making alternative
air deodorizer using carabao excrement with lemon extract.
To the community- this study aims to provide information or
knowledge to people in community that even the carabao
excrement or waste can be a air deodorizer.

Scope and Limitation
This study aim to create air freshner in the form of gel with
the scent of lemon ectract.

Definition of terms
Ailments- An illness or sickness, typically a minor one.
Buffalo- A large grayish-olive freshwater fish with thick
lips.
Cultivated Species- A term defined by a species in which
the evolutionary process has been influenced by humans to
meet their needs.
Deodorizer- To eliminate or prevent the offensive odor.
Distinctive- Having or giving an uncommon and appealing
quality.
Ellipsoidal- Is a surface that may be obtained from a
sphere by deforming it by means of directional scalings or
more generally of an affine transformation.
Excrement- Bodily waste discharged through the anus.
Feces- Solid waste released from the body.
Hybrid- An offspring of two animals or plants of different
races, breeds, varieties, species, or genera.

Manure- Material that fertilized land, specially refuse of
stables and barnyards consisting of livestock excreta with
or without litter.

Watch enough TV commercials and you get the sense that Americans
are obsessed with air freshener. Trigger-happy woman routinely
rush around the house armed with cans off a stuff, gleefully
spraying running shoes, embarrassed dogs and cigar-smoke-laden
furniture; whole families, it seems are intoxicated by the fresh
scent of Summer Breeze or Berry Burst.
LOCAL LITERATURE – Air and Odor Management is fully integrated
air solutions company headquartered in Singapore.
By mid-2009 Air and Odor Management Philippines was established
to specialize in indoor air quality, odor control solution and

ambient scenting. Over the years we have successfully introduced
our products and services to a diverse range of clients with over
300 equipment installations across various sectors including
hotels, casinos, hospitals, shopping malls, factories, offices
and other high end properties.
FOREIGN STUDY – According to the NRDC report, three Walgreens
product-Walgreens scented bouquet air freshener, Walgreens air
freshener spray and Walgreens solid air freshener-were among the
top four highest in phthalate content (including ozium glycolized
air sanitizer), and Walgreens pulled them from store shelves last
Wednesday. The will submit its house branded products to an
independent lab to confirm the NRDC’s findings. One of the
Walgreens manufacturers has already decided to make its product
phthalates free, according to Walgreens spokes woman Carol
Hively.
LOCAL STUDY – According to Steven Gilbert (August 23,
2009). Air fresheners are a common commercial product used
to create a pleasant smelling and clean indoor atmosphere
in homes and businesses. They are known to contain a number
of different chemicals agent in order to neutralize

offensive odors and create more pleasant scent. The basic
ingredients in air freshener are formaldehyde, petroleum
distillates, ¼ dischlorobenzene and aerosol propellants.

METHODS OF RESEARCH AND SOURCES OF DATA
Methods of Research
The study use experimental method since the
researcher plan to make a product out of organic use of
carabo excrement as an alternative air deodorizer with
lemon extract. As an experimental research is a procedure
carried out to support any validate hypothesis experiment
provide insight into cause and effect by demonstrating what
outcomes occur when a particular factor is manipulated. It
vary greatly in goal and scale but always rely on
repeatable procedure and logical analysis of result. There
also exists natural experimental studies.
