HAPPINESS

This is Khai – a handsome, good-looking guy who is always happy with a bright smile.
And this is Tuan – a miserable boy who usually appears with an emotionless face, messy
hair and a list of work on hand. (maybe có thể để Tuân hỏi Khải rằng where can i find
happiness sau đấy nói tiếp)
We all want to be happy. But the majority of us have no idea what to do. Should we
focus on making more money? Should we focus on pursuing your passions or should we
give up all of our material possessions and become a monk in the mountains? Everyone
seems to have a very different approach. So can I ask you what’s our topic today?
(HAPPINESS). So first, let’s consider UNHAPPINESS.
I)UNHAPPINESS:
(KHAI) WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF UNHAPPY PEOPLE?
- Unhappy people are those who always find negatives and never notice any hope in any
situations.
-They are attention seekers. They always need validation from others.
-They’re only fixated on how to accomplish as many goals as possible without even
realizing the value of their work.
(HUONG LINH) WHY THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE FEELING UNHAPPY
LIVING IN THE MODERN SOCIETY?

-Today, so many of us spend more time indoors, eat highly-processed food and get
access to the mass media without knowing what is real and what is virtual. We may
claim that we have a backlog of work, deadlines to deal with, we set high expectations
and always try to keep ourselves occupied with loads of work, which result in the fact
that we don’t have enough time to enjoy life or simply, to relax. Even students these
days, some in this class for instance, pull many all-nighters, cram the textbooks just to
gain high scores in tests, and then come to class with the sleepy faces.

-We are living in a world where the standard of happiness is reputation and fame. We
attribute happiness to success, to how much work you’ve ticked off on your to-do list,
but we rarely spare a few minutes to consider whether these things are genuine
happiness or just satisfaction? I doubt the latter.

II)HAPPINESS:
(TUAN) WHAT EXACTLY IS HAPPINESS?
-Happiness is an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy, contentment, and
fulfillment. While having many different definitions, it is often described as involving
positive emotions and life satisfaction. In fact, these two components should reinforce
each other.
(VIET) HOW HAPPINESS INFLUENCES YOU?
- Physical + mental health: Scientific studies have revealed a host of physical health
benefits of happiness including a stronger immune system, better resilience in the face of
stress, fewer risks of cardiovascular disease, and even increasing life longevity.
-When we’re happy, we allow more room to think about how to get on with challenges,
which, in turn, can boost work productivity as well as make other people surrounding
you feel pleasant.
(HIEN ANH) HOW CAN WE CREATE HAPPINESS?

- “Happiness is a journey.” You’ve definitely heard this before. But if it isn’t a

destination, then how can you find it?
-Some might say “think positively and then you’ll be happy”, but that’s not enough.
We know that the brain has the tendency to highlight the negatives and it’s really tricky
to revoke just by positive thinking =>It takes positive actions.

1.Stay away from social comparisons, try to focus on our strengths and accept your
weaknesses.
2. Get out of your comfort zone. Take a leap of faith to step up and follow your wildest
dreams instead of thinking “If only I had”.
3. Wake up in the morning, tell yourself that “no matter what obstacles that stand in my
way, I can overcome it” or you can also take some meditation exercises to promote
emotional calmness.

*) All in all, happiness is a journey of yourself, through yourself and to yourself, not a
destination. It’s long-term, not fleeting, which means you are contented, you decide your
own thoughts and actions, you form close relationships with others, and most
importantly, you are you. So who are you? Are you feeling happy, Miss Thuy?

Happiness shouldn’t be your life goal, because there are times in your life when you’re
not going to be happy (like Tuan) and then, what are you gonna do? It’s like a shallow
boat in the very rough ocean. Happiness comes upon you and then you should be
grateful for it. If you happen to be happy, well, wonderful. Enjoy those moments and
remind yourself that “I will create happier moments tomorrow”. Finally, remember that
“HAPPINESS DEPENDS UPON YOU”.

Thank you so much for your attention!
