TASK ONE
Decide whether the arguments below include to “PRO” or “AGAINST”.

Arguments Pro Against

1. I frankly think that National Examination will
just encourage school to give tasks which develop
students’ability to answer typical examination
qusetions.

2. In the other hand, some people think that the

Miss Universe competition is not in line with
Indonesian culture. The fact that the
competition requires each contestants to wear
swimsuit is still extremelly unacceptable in
Indonesian culture.

3. I personally believe that the national

examination will only encourage schools to give
taks which develop students’ ability to answer
typical examination questions.

4. A motorcycle is not dangerous. Underage drivers

are dangerous. Senior high school
students,between 15 and 17 years old, tend to
speed, show off, and generally put themselves in
far too many dangerous situation.

1. You know, I can’t deny the fact that computers
help us a lot in this information age. I can’t
imagine what this world would be like if there
were no computers. How could I handle so much
work in my office? How could the police regulate
the traffic lights without the help of computers?
How could we communicate with each other in
 different places without computers.
2. A debate about nuclear energy as an alternative
to overcome the energy crisis often arises. The
debate about whether nuclear energy is effective
has not come to an end. Some people agree with
its utilization because of its benefit. Some
others, however, disagree because of the risks
to environment.

3. As you see, there has been a great deal of

discussion on the problem of abortion in this
country. The discussion includes: Is abortion
legal or illegal? Is abotion morally justified or
not? However, in this discussion I would like to
talk from different angle.

4. Do you know what a hacker is? A hacker is a

person who enjoys exploring the details of
programmable systems on computers.Hackers like
to stretch the capability of these systems.
Activities they do with computers are called
“hacking”. So, What is the problem of ‘hacking’
and ‘hackers’? The problem is whether hacking is
legal or illegal. People around the world have
many different views about hacking and hackers.
Some of them take the side of hackers but many
disagree.

5. When do people use an ‘X’-ray? Correct. When

they are ill. I mean when there is something
wrong with internal parts of their baody. Can you
give any examples of such illness? When people
hace these diseases, they need an X-ray to
check. Yes, cancer,kidney trouble,heart trouble,
tumors, etc. Do you know that there are many
conflicting opinions about the use of X-rays in
hospitals?

6. Nowadays, the video game industries are

developing rapidly. They have become multi-
billion dollars industries. Video game has become
 an important part not only of children’s lives but
also of adults, Nevertheles, there are some
arguments wheteher video games have a good or
a bad influence on children.
