Do you agree with the content of the memorandum giving the guest relations officers/agents
the authority to make adjustments using their own discretion? Why or why not?

Different people discrete because they want to have a freedom to choose. They make their own
discretion to be able to compare the situations, the benefits and the drawbacks, and choosing what is
best for them. Making adjustments using one’s discretion is to judge critically of what is correct and
proper. If discretion is simply choosing the best alternative out of several, then the guest relations
officers/agents has to raise their voice what should be the best for them. Whenever the statement has
the correct rules and regulation, the guest relations/officer should understand first before reacting to
that situation.

However, I am agreed with the content of the memorandum because as written on it, it shows
respect on how they write and say it to the guest relations/officers. Then, the guest relations/officers
must be calm down on making judgements using their own discretion. If they do not want what the
content was saying, they should approach first and tell to them with having a correct tone of voice to
avoid such complaints. They should be careful on making judgments because it helps to avoid
misunderstandings and conflict. Consideration is the other thing what they should provide, because if
there are some problems with the employees the company should consider what was the employees
problem. All of us, experiencing different issues, therefore they should understand the employee’s
situation. If there are some reasonable problems, they have the right to raise their work ability to make
judgments.
