- Topic: Fairy tales


- Definition:
+ Fairy tales are stories that have magical people and creatures in them.
+ Things happen in fairy tales that can’t happen in ordinary life.
- purpose of fairy tales:
+ Fairy tales cause a sense of wonder in the reader or listener.
+ For entertainment: people played music, they talked, they told each
other stories.
- During the late 1800s: Fairy tales helped people escape from the routine in
their lives.
- Another purpose: civilizing people (means that educating people about good
behavior).
- In conclude: Fairy tales are very deep (stories about who we are and what
we believe in).

Ex 4:
1. People change into animals(a boy becomes a bird). A princess may sleep for a
hundred years. Objects can be enchanted (mirrors talk, pumpkins become
mcarriages, and a genie lives in a lamp).
2. Some people assume that fairy tales were created for children, but this is not
true; fairy tales are stories that adults told other adults.
3. The purposes are:
1) they help people wonder about the workings of the universe;
2) they entertained people and helped people escape from the routine of their
lives;
3) they civilize people by teaching them how to be good citizens.
4. Fairy tales are actually very deep. They are stories about who we are and how
we believe, but they come in the form of entertainment, so they are easy to
understand.
