Emirati people address someone by their appropriate title. “Sheikh” in man and
“Sheikha” in woman. “Sayed” in Mr. and “Syeda” in Mrs., and then followed by
their first name. Example: Sayed Abdul Ghaffar and Syeda Adelmira.

Emiratis has a huge respect with their opposite gender. When meeting, hugs
and kisses are not allowed unless initiated first by you Emirati acquaintance.
Physical contact are only for those in between men.
Saying ‘no’ directly is not courteous in Iraqi culture so an affirmative response
from a client may not necessarily mean agreement or acceptance. Alternatively,
the client may answer with “I don’t know” rather than saying no.

Handshakes do not typically happen across genders. If you are meeting with
someone from the opposite sex, then it is wise for you to wait for them to offer
their hand first, before offering your own. If a handshake is not forthcoming,
then a nod of your head and a small bow will be well received.
A common phrase that accompanies a greeting is “salaam aleikum” (may peace
be with you ), which should be replied to with “waaleikum us salam” (may peace
be with you also).

Leaving a small amount of food on your plate once you have finished eating. This
symbolize abundance and serves as a compliment to the host for providing so
well.
The core concept in Persian culture is called Tarof (or taroof). It is based upon
acknowledgement of other people. It shows humbleness and respectfulness.
For example, it is always polite to let others through a door before you, or say,
“No, after you.” The word to use in this scenario is “shoma befarmayeen”
(please go ahead).

In formal situations, only shake hands with people of the same gender,
whereas informally Iranians kiss three times on each cheek. After shaking
hands, put your right hand on your chest to show respect.
