Worksheet 3 – Design Pre-production Documents

(Script and Shooting Script)

The proposal for your film idea (Worksheet 1) and now that you have provided supporting materials to go
with it (Worksheet 2a – Visualization Diagram and Storyboard) you have been asked to create a script and
shooting script for the first few minutes of the film.

Task 1 - Script
You have been asked to produce a script for the first few minutes of the film (not the trailer). The script
should include sections of scene description/setting as well as character dialogue. The script should be set
out using standard script conventions.
In your script remember to include:
• Title, Date and version number (This should be far left aligned)
• Scene descriptions (left aligned)
• Information concerning camera shots, sound effects and actions (CAPITALISED)
• Scene numbers, (INT/EXT), location (Bold and left aligned)
• Character names and dialogue (Centred and names CAPITALISED)

Task 2 – Shooting Script

You have also been asked to create a shooting script to accompany your script using the table provided. A
well written script makes it much easier to create a shooting script.
In your shooting script remember to include:
• Scene Numbers
• Camera Movements (e.g. camera moves from left to right)
• Camera Shots and Angles (e.g. camera zooms in, zooms out etc.)
• Shot Duration (how long each shot will last)
• Audio (Any sounds in the scene e.g. Music, Voice Overs, Special effects)
Remember multiple things can happen in one scene; you can include these all in the same row or use
different rows for different scene actions.
