MPLADS IN EDUCATION

Permissible Items:

Construction of School, boundary walls, hostels, libraries, residential schools in tribal areas, toilets, drinking water
buildings facilities, auditorium, sporting facilities like basketball courts, playground, children parks, stage
platforms, Mid-Day meal kitchens.
Electronic Computers, Software (MS Office and Windows), Audio-Visual Aids, Information footpath (upgradation
projects to smart school), Ham Club in high schools, Citizen band radio and Bibliographic data-base projects.
Other Items Furniture in the schools, Purchase of school bus, school books, construction of footbridge etc. to access
schools, Bio-digester invented by DRDO, Training of teachers in MS Office and Windows software,

Prohibited Items:

Construction of Renovation, and repair works, Acquisition of land for building, Construction in unauthorized colonies,
buildings
Electronic
projects
Other Items Recurring expenditure like salary of teachers,

Guidelines:

1. The Institution must belonging to Government/ local bodies.


2. Recognized institutions (aided institutions/unaided) can also be assisted if the said institution is in existence for not
less than two years.
3. The expenditure incurred on movable items (like furniture, equipment and other consumables) should not be more
than 10% of the total expenditure while construction of school or other educational institutions.
4. Up to Rs. 50 lakh in a year is permissible for Furniture in Primary and Secondary Schools in the already existing
schools. Rs. 10 Lakh under the scheme is permissible for a school in its lifetime.
5. Existing unaided schools cannot access the scheme for expenditure on movable items.
6. The limit for purchasing books for schools up to middle level is Rs. 6 Lakh, and the purchase of books to higher level
till ITIs/Public Libraries and Colleges is up to Rs. 8 lakh.
7. For particular school, the limit is prescribed to be at Rs. 10,000 up to middle school level, Rs. 25,000 upto Higher
Secondary level and up to Rs.50,000 for ITIs/Public Libraries and Colleges.
8. The schools should comply with Right to Education Act. 2008 guidelines (like student, teacher ratio and
accessibility) and should not be earlier aided under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme for construction of the
amenities to be developed under MPLADS.
9. Not more than Rs.50 lakh, can be spent from MPLADS fund for the schools recognized by the Government and are
run by a particular Society/Trust in the lifetime of that Society/Trust. Overall, not more than Rs. One Crore can be
allotted for Societies/Trusts in a financial year
