According to Art. 774 of the Civil Code of the Philippines.

Succession is a mode of acquisition under


which the property, rights, and obligations to the extent of the value of the inheritance, of a person are
transmitted through his death to another or others either by his will or by operation of law. Concerning the
distribution of inheritance, the one who should get the most heritage is both the legitimate & illegitimate
children. If the deceased spouse has one legitimate child, he is entitled to ½ of the estate. But if two or
more legitimate children, the ½ inheritance will be divided equally among themselves. Moreover, the
spouse whom the decedent loved & married is entitled to ¼ of the hereditary estate only if there is one
legitimate child, however, if two or more legitimate children are both entitled to a portion equally. Lastly,
the Family Code of the Philippines provides that the legitimacy of each illegitimate child is ½ that of a
legitimate child.
