Personal Statement

Being deeply influenced by my mother, who is a senior accountant, I have grown up with a
growing interest in accounting and finance. During my undergraduate study, she often talked with
me about accounting-related issues, such as various business modules and processes in financial
accounting, and helped me answer some doubts in my learning process. As far as I’m concerned,
accounting is a discipline with strong practicality. It plays a significant role in a series of core
divisions of the enterprise. Besides, personal investment and financial management in life are also
inseparable from accounting knowledge. Since accounting is no more just simple calculation and
statistics but is increasingly moving towards the direction of analytical management nowadays,
which requires the practitioners to have strong analytical ability. Possessing the wish that one day
I could also make a difference in the financial area just like my mother, I’m determined to pursue
a master’s degree in accounting to hone my professionalism and skills. And I believe that the MSc
Accounting and Management program at your esteemed university would provide me with the
higher education that I need and help me get well prepared with strength and competitiveness for
my future career.

I am now studying my bachelor's degree through a Sino-foreign cooperation programme by

Beijing University of Agriculture and Harper Adams University. During the four years, I have
been working hard and achieved satisfying results in my major courses. Since International
Economics and Trade is a discipline that covers a wide range of subjects, I was exposed to the
fundamental theories not only in economics, but also human resource management, marketing and
so on. Among the specialized courses, Business Data Analysis course provides me with the basic
accounting knowledge, including six factors of accounting, accounting equation, accounting
subjects and financial statements, etc. In this course, I learned to record basic information by using
QuickBooks software as well. While studying Financial Decision Making, I mastered the financial
analysis method of making optimal decisions and improving operating management to enhance
economic benefits for enterprises. These courses equipped me with basic foundation of accounting
and also cultivated my logical thinking. On the other hand, studying through a programme which
is delivered in English has acclimatized me to the English environment- I not only adapted to the
whole English classroom teaching mode, various English accents, but also mastered basic writing
method and quotation format of English papers. Therefore, I am confident that I have both the
academic ability and adaptive capacity to secure prominent performance for my further study.

In addition to my academic study, I also took every chance to be involved in social practice, from
which my practical ability has been significantly improved. For instance, in the summer vacation
of 2020, I had an internship as an accounting assistant at Beijing Hongwei Najin Technology Co.,
LTD, where I experienced the basic accounting work such as bookkeepinp, issuing financial
statements, and the tax work. It was the first time that I got to learn the formal accounting, which
laid a foundation for my accounting practice afterwards. My x` internship took place at Beijing
Lianchuang Technology Co. LTD in May 2021. This time I got to learn the enterprise accounting
basic procedures and methods, which has strengthened my understanding of accounting. Last but
not least, my internship at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu was meaningful as well. Getting involved in
the audit projects allowed me to have a preliminary understanding of the audit work. I became
aware that knowing about the environment and background of enterprise subjects is as important
as the final analysis and calculation of data and statements. I also learned to use Excel to improve
my work efficiency and deal with actual complex cases. All of these experiences provided me
with chances to apply the knowledge learned into practice and enabled me to see the gap between
theory and reality. Moreover, I also learned to cultivate a patient and rigorous work attitude
towards accounting work. In this process, I met a variety of excellent talents and predecessors,
which inspired me to strive to become a professional in this area. Therefore, I am now more than
determined to study advanced knowledge of accounting and consolidate my understanding in this
field.

My internship experiences also let me know one thing more clearly, that is, accounting is the
fundamental language of the whole financial field, and engaging in audit work is a relatively fast
way to master this language. Thus, working as an auditor becomes my first career goal after
completing my master’s degree. I plan to obtain the ACCA certificates and seek auditing positions
in the medium-sized firms in Beijing first. After accumulating much practical experience, I would
endeavor to become a senior auditor who is proficient in basic audit affairs and work in the Big
Four Accounting Firms. Through studying at your university, I hope I could have an in-depth
study of accounting and become able to achieve my career aspirations someday. The MSc
Accounting and Management programme provided by your esteemed university appeals to me
with its well-designed curriculum, through which I believe I can systematically acquire up-to-date
knowledge and enhance my thinking and analytical skills to successfully tackle the challenges and
realize my self-value in the financial industry. I earnestly hope the respected admission committee
