1 Introduction

Dance as a Competition

"You earn your trophies at practice. You pick them up at

competitions!"
Knowing and understanding the nature of specific dance and mastering
several of its techniques are just the first few steps in learning the
dance as a whole. Bringing it to a different level such as a dance
competition challenges the dancer to a certain extent and further enhances
experience.
Dance competitions are where dances show off and compare their skills
with other dancers. Depending on what is required of the dancers,
competition is the main focus. Several dance genres such as cheer dance,
street dance, and hip-hop dance are done not just for entertainment but for
competition as well.
