[isis] WASHERS a BEVELED WASHERS ANSI/AS| B18.23 1967 (R19 IFI Notes: 1. ANSVASME 818.231 is a standard developed through the procedures of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers. B18.23.1 is under the juris: diction of ASME Standards Committee B18. 2. The latest edition of 818.23.1 was published in 1967 and at that time was ANSI 827.4. In 1975 the standard was reaffirmed without technical change and redesignated B18.23.1. 3. B18.23.1 covers two types of beveled washers, Types A and B. Hardened steel Type B washers are intended to be the same as the hardened beveled washers covered in ASTM F436, page L-23. To achieve this agreement, IFI in this presentation of 818.23.1, has made one minor technical change. The inside diameter of 1 in. Type B washers has been increased from 1.06 in. to 112 in. 4. Introductory Notes. 14° Scope. 144 This standard covers two types of bev- eled washers designated as Type A (Malleable Ion} and Type B (steel). These washers are in tended for American Standard beams and channels in structural applications, to com- pensate for lack of parallelism where an outer face of the bolted parts has a slope of more than 1:20 with respect to a plane normal to the boit axis. 14.2. The inclusion of dimensional data in this standard is not intended to imply that all products described herein are production items. Consumers are requested to consult with manufacturers concerning fists of stock production sizes. 4.2 Types of Washers. 4.24 The Type A and B unhardened washers sare intended for applications where hardened washers are not required. 1.2.2 The Type B wasters may be supplied unhardened or hardened. Hardened washers are intended for applications using high strength structural bolts, as defined in the Specifications for Structural Joints using ASTM A325 and A490 Bolts. issued by the Research Council on Structural Connections of the Engineering Foundation. 1.3 Dimensions. All dimensions in this standard are given in inches, unless otherwise stated. 1.4 Materials, 1.44 Type A Beveled Washers shall be made of malleable cast iron. 1.4.2 Type B Beveled Washers shall be made of steel 1.4.3 Type B hardened washers shall conform 10 the chemical and naraness requirements of ASTM F436, page L-23 15. Finish. Washers are normally supplied with a plain natural finish unless otherwise specified. 1.6 Quality. Washers shall be free from burrs, loose scale, sharp edges and all other defects that might affect their serviceability Lis ‘ANSI/ASME B18.23.1 4967 (R1975) BEVELED WASHERS SLOPE— 2IN 12 ‘ 7 1 IE Dimensions of Beveled Washers ape pTel[+7]eyaye [elt Tee A — Mal “ype 8 — Steel Tolerance | +003 | +003 | 0.03 | Nom | +003 | 2003 | 905 | 20.02 | Nom Ta ons | oa | oz foo | oe | am | oss | oe | o | ave tie ose | too | ost | oxe | 029 | aas | oss | o2e | ox | ave de ose | 138 | ose | ore | 023 | 04 | ose | ozs | ox | a1 Y2__osoo | tz | ose | ove | ozs | ose | 175 | o4s | o16 | 051 ze oss | 120 | ase | 012 | oa | ooo | 175 [oa | 018 | om Se ong | 130 | cas | or | oar | os: | tz | 04s | oxo | os: 4 OM | 253 | Gas | ese | owe | sac | ta | ous | ox | om 1° ‘ooo | Zoo | oss | 022 | 030 | ‘oe | 17 | o4s | O16 | o3t tie tas | 225] ose | oas | oae | 125 | 228 [oso | 012 | ast tae aso | 228 | ove | oar | ose | 138 | 22 | oso | ox | ox fae tare | 278 | ore | oa | oss | 130 | 225 | o50 | o12 | om Tie ts00 | 300 | oar | os | ose | tee | 225 | oso | or | ost WASHER 3
