Pomodoro Technique presentation
Writer’s block

‘I don’t know where to start’

‘I don’t have any original ideas’

‘I have no idea what I’m talking about’

The Pomodoro technique

1. Decide on the task to be done

2. Set the pomodoro timer to 25

minutes

3. Work on the task until the timer

rings. If a distraction pops into
your head, write it down, but
immediately get back on task.

Why write everything?

• Writing forms the think

• Think makes the emotions

• Emotion creates the actions

• Action generates outcomes

Why write everything?

‘So when we think through what we might write about…. we

start somewhere, and then we think out loud. That idea led me
to this idea, and this idea led me to a third idea, and by the
time I arrived at the end of my thinking, I was someplace where I
wasn’t at the beginning, and that’s what writing does. Writing
helps us to clarify our thinking process.’

Imagine the last time you struggled but
kept going
Tips

1. Don’t stop! Your hand will hurt,

your back will ache. You are
research athletes, training to
accomplish your goal.
2. Don’t delete anything. Your editor
will do that.
3. Don’t worry. Just keep moving
forward. The biggest journey
begins with a single step
