REINVIGORATE THE YOUTH

We,The Filipino Youth holds a significant role in our society.

Our National Hero,Dr.Jose P.Rizal once written in his novel El Filibusterismo, “Where are the Youth who
will consecrate their golden hours, their illusions, and their enthusiasm to the welfare of their native
land?”

Over one hundred years have passed since Jose Rizal died fighting for our sovereignty against the
Spaniards through the use of pen and paper, yet some youth have forgotten this scene in the past which
make them free today.

Where are the Filipino Youth anyway? What are they doing right now?

We are dramaticatically altered when Modern Technology and social media networking sites such as
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram continue to arise and dominate our lives.

The profound effect of Social Media could vividly be seen through the lifestyle of Teenagers for they are
merely sitting in one corner holding their cellular phones.Hence,we could no longer deny the fact that
using Technology and Social media benefit us in multiple ways.It makes our form of communication
easier and better.Before it would take a week to send a letter but now with just one click we could easily
send our messages.

According to We are Social’s Global Digital Report as of 2019,there are 76 million of Active Filipino Social
media users and the biggest group are in the age of 18-24 years old from university to early career age.

Wih this it is fascinating to note how wreathe social media platform,Facebook,in particular is reasonable
both in academic and in social life.

It is also a usual practice among classes in school whether Highschool or College. We are obliged to be
on a group chat so that we can have an update for class activities, discuss homeworks, projects and
many more.

On the other hand, Teenagers who let social media monopolize their time are more prone in having
mental problem such as anxiety and depression .It can lead to poor social interactions since they just
merely sitting in one corner scrolling different timelines, checking the reactions they have got in posting
their thoughts or photos and also They are always looking forward to the comments they will get.

Recent studies shows that social media may harm our mental health by increasing their exposure to
cyber bullying and restricting their sleep and exercise. A normal sleep is from 6-8 hours however what
are we doing is to sleep for only four hours making ourselves unproductive during the day.

Kids could not contribute much in helping our nation while Adults might also have problem regarding
their health.We as a Youth could do more than anybody else since we are strong,brave and capable of
doing at a brisk pace.

Lastly,We should be wise in using our time for we will not remain as a Youth forever.

Future Generations will soon be born and what we are imparting


An Educater once said that, “We have a powerful potential in our Youth, and We must have the courage
to change old ideas and practices so that we may direct their power toward good ends.”
