Table 2 furnishes the content related evidence of the instrument. It

included the questions asked, the mean ratings, and the adjective ratings. As

furnished in the table, the content related to the level of speaking competencies

of Third Year teacher education students majoring in English was very much

appropriate with a mean rating of 4.90; the terminologies used was very much

comprehensive with a mean rating of 4.90; the items representing the

weaknesses of speaking competencies of Third Year teacher education students

majoring in English was very much adequate with a mean rating of 4.90; and the

format of the rating scale was very much appropriate with a mean rating of 4.80.

The average mean rating was 4.88, associated to the adjective rating of very

much appropriate.

Reliability of the Instrument. The final copy of the questionnaire was

administered to ten selected respondents for the first dry run. After one month,

the same instrument was administered to the same respondents for the second

dry run. The responses for the first and second try-outs were correlated using the

Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient.

Table 3 reflects the significance of the reliability coefficient of the

instrument. It included the dimensions, the computed rs, and the interpretation.

As reflected in the table, the dimension on profile of Third Year teacher education

students majoring in English had a computed rs of 0.86; level of speaking

competencies of Third Year teacher education students majoring in English had a

computed rs of 0.88; weaknesses of Third Year teacher education students

majoring in English had a computed rs of 0.87; and interventions to overcome the

weaknesses of Third Year teacher education students majoring in English had a

computed rs of 0.88. The average computed rs was 0.87, interpreted as “reliable”.

The data gathered were subject to statistical treatment, specifically

through the following measures:
