A Visual Feast!
I expect we all remember trips to see the local circus as children. The same acts last year after year and
the same clowns making 1. (futile / resounding) attempts to surprise us with the same jokes. Some fun
moments, but they did receive an increasingly 2. (lukewarm / dismal) response from the public who had
seem them few years running. Then our interest in circus was rekindled by the amazing Cirque du Soliel,
which the 3. (vast/burning) majority of us will probably heard of. They offered something quite new, a
blend of theatre and circus. I recently came across a new group. Cirque Beserk. Initially I was sceptical
as I thought that due to the 4. (unprecedented/endearing) success of Cirque du Soleil that no other new
circus group could reproduce their sense of drama and spectacle on stage. I went long to see Cirque
Bersek and as I am a cynic I predicted a 5. (unmitigated / dismal) failure. I couldn’t have been more
wrong! The pulsing energy was enthralling and I was on the edge of my seat throughout as I witnessed 6.
(futile / formidable) challenges such as four daredevil motor cyclists riding with a cage. Visually, a feast
for the eyes. Juggles, dancers, drummers and acrobats: each act demonstrating yet another 7.
(impressive / eternal) accomplishment. Whilst I personally have never had a 8. (burning / colossal)
ambition to do anything remotely related to the circus, I can now understand the appeal. A spectacle not
to be missed!
