Part 1 – Introduction & Interview (4 -5 minutes)

OK. Thank you, that’s fine. Now, let’s talk about where you live.
Where is your hometown?
4. Can you describe your town or village to me?
5. Do you like your hometown?
6. Now, let’s talk about the weekend. What do you usually do at the
weekend?
7. What do you think you’ll do next weekend?
8. Do you enjoy your weekends now more than you did when you were a
child?
9. How important is it for you to relax at the end of the week?
10. Let’s talk about email. What sort of emails do you receive about your
work or studies?
11. Do you prefer to email, phone or text your friends?
12. Do you reply to emails and messages as soon as you receive them?
13. Are you happy to receive emails that are advertising things?

Part 2 – Individual Long Turn (3 -4 minutes)

1. Thank you. Now, I’m going to give you a topic and I’d like you to
talk about it for one to two minutes. Before you talk, you will have
one minute to think about what you’re going to say. You can make
some notes if you wish. Do you understand?
Here’s some paper and a pencil to take notes. And here’s your
topic. I’d like you to describe a hotel you know.
1. {One minute has passed} Now remember you have one to two
minutes for this, so don’t worry if I stop you. I’ll tell you when the
time is up. Can you start speaking now please? {you speak for one
– two minutes}
2. (rounding off question) Do you enjoy going to hotels?
3. Thank you. Can I have the booklet and paper back please?

Part 3 – Two-way Discussion (4 – 5 minutes)

1. We’ve been talking about a hotel you know. And I’d like to discuss
with you one or two more general questions related to this. Let’s
consider this first of all, staying in hotels. What things are important
when choosing a hotel?
2. Why do people not like staying in hotels?
3. Do you think staying in a luxury hotel is a waste of money?
4. Let’s move on now and talk about working in a hotel in general. Do
you think hotel work is a good career for life?
5. How does working in a big hotel compare with working in a small
hotel?
6. What skills are needed to be a successful hotel manager?
7. Thank you very much that is the end of the speaking test.
