Learning occurs through training, development, informal learning, and knowledge

management. Training and development programs that are organized and created by the
company are one way to ensure that employees learn. In less strategic approaches,
training involves a series of programs or events that employees are required to attend.
After attending the training program, employees are responsible for using what they
learned in training on the job, and any support they might receive is based on the whims
of their manager. Also, such training provides no information to help employees
understand the relationship between the training content and their job performance,
development objectives, or business goals. This type of training usually fails to improve
workplace performance and meet business needs.

There are benefits derived from training strategically. The role of training as a program
or event will continue into the future because employees will always need to be taught
specific knowledge and skills. This approach assumes that business conditions are
predictable, they can be controlled by the company, and the company can control and
anticipate the knowledge and skills that employees need in the future. These assumptions
are true for certain skills, such as communication and conflict resolution. However, these
training events or programs will need to be more closely tied to performance
improvement and business needs to receive support from top management.

The initiatives are based on the business environment, an understanding of the

company’s goals and resources, and insight regarding potential training and development
options. They provide the organization with a road map to guide specific training and
development activities. They also show how the training function will help the
organization reach its goals and in doing so, show how the training function will add
value. There is a tendency to have a disconnect between the strategy and the execution of
the strategy. To avoid this, learning professionals need to reach out to managers to ensure
that the strategic training initiatives and training activities are aligned with the business
strategy and that the necessary financial resources and support are provided to carry out
the training activities.

To contribute to a organization’s business strategy, it is important that the training

function understand and support it and provide value to its customers. Linking training
plans to business plans is important because business plans describe organization
priorities and include descriptions of who will be involved, the context and how it might
affect the plan, how the plan will be carried out and what decisions have to be made,
including those involving training and development, to increase the likelihood that the
plan will succeed.

representatives is delivered online. It can be through Facebook and Twitter and other
social media platforms. The new sales representatives are each assigned a regional sales
leader who contacts the trainees to answer any questions they might have and help them
build their business. To facilitate continuous learning, Persistent Systems Ltd., an IT
software company, provides different ways employees can access learning anytime and
anywhere, including online learning, blended learning, and mobile learning. Also, the
company encourages employees to engage in informal learning to share and gain
knowledge. An online assessment tool can be used by employees to achieve skill
certification.

In addition, obviously some form of learning may have occurred because the trainee must
be very skillful regarding that in just first attempt he demonstrates it correctly or maybe
he already know how to accomplish this particular task that’s why the trainee correctly
demonstrates the process and repairs the connection on the first attempt.

Trainers must design a training program which is effective and could lead to transfer of
learning to the trainee. Trainer should ensure that the objectives of the training are clearly
communicated to the trainees so as to ensure effective training. They should implement
self- regulation which ensures that trainees are keeping track of their performance,
learning and assessing themselves to accommodate changes need in learning.
